    Twin outboards unequal fuel consumption

Dick, Are you able to get the same RPMs on both engines at WOT? If not, I would check out the pitch on both your props. When I ordered a spare set of props from the Prop Gods, I paid extra to have the props checked out and balanced right out of the box. One prop was 3/4" different in pitch.

I have had several boats with spotlight at various locations. The best location that I experienced is on the bow rail. Any spotlight aft of the bow rail invariably shows up as a glare on the rails or on the white of the foredeck. On my new Tomcat, I chose not to have any spotlight at all...

    Shower will not drain

Matt, I saw that C-Dory factory was not using the proper hose for the head system. They use some sort of bilge pump hose rather than a sanitation hose used for the head. The clamps were not holding the thin hose very well and I saw a small leak. Matt, yours may also be leaking on the...

Left-hand rotation prop on starboard side?

I always wondered why C-Dory put the lefthand (counter rotating) gearbox on my starboard side of my Tomcat. My previous twin engine boats were the opposite. In speaking with a couple of propeller and boat dealers, I had mentioned this and they did not know why that would be. Today, I had my...

Coming to San Diego this weekend

Go to Point Loma Seafood at Shelter Island and order the crab sandwich but specify with dungeness crab. The whole sportfishing landing is a great place to have lunch and walk around. I would also recommend the tour of the Midway. Weather is about 72-degrees right now in San Diego. At...

    Hydraulic trailer brake binding

If you used the old brake drums without turning them, they are probably warped, causing inconsistency in how you adjust the brakes, which is probably why the problem shifts to another wheel after brake adjustment of all wheels. I would turn the drums regardless of how smooth it looks. Your...

Warren, I was trying not to guess how much to draw from one tank to balance out a list. The sponsons of a TomCat can camoflouge a more drastic fuel out of balance than what you can see. I also don't trust fuel gauges. My Mercury Smartcraft system doesn't make it easy to add aftermarket fuel...

Les, I agree with everything you said because it addresses all the safety related issues. But I also want the "fourth" scenerio, where one engine will draw from both tanks simultaneously. Since fluids take the path of least resistence, an ill-designed manifold could cause two engines to draw...

    Cat Fever Pictures Finally Posted

Warren, Thanks for the picture. Do you normally run with the by-pass valve open or closedf? Your picture looks like it is closed. If it is open, can you run with one engine and draw fuel equally from both tanks? George Cat Fever

Finally got most of the electronics done. Expert Marine Electronics of Baldwin Park, California, did a great job. Wiring was meticulous and owner was very knowlegeable. I added those pictures and some other projects in my Cat Fever photo album. All electrical go through four 6-volt AGM...
