    Mast

The newest ones come with a mast that is already set up with a radar mount. Here's a picture:

Ranger Tug 21ec - My Observation!

I have been on a couple of Acadia 25's, since they are built right down the road a bit in Cape Coral. Nice boats! More plain than a Ranger, not as fancy in terms of trim and outfitting, which probably makes it a bit more appropriate for IdleUp's needs. I also like how Atlas Boatworks keeps...

Ranger Tug 21ec - My Observation!

I missed that one, but... There are two drains, but they do not lead overboard, they drain to the bilge. It's not a self-bailing cockpit.

Ranger Tug 21ec - My Observation!

That was only true before the invention of the putty knife and the scotchbrite pad. ;) Seriously, there's no reason for growth on the bottom to noticeably affect boat speed. My last sailboat was almost exclusively used for racing, and I would not race with a dirty bottom. Keep good paint on it...

    Full Canvas or Not

Here's a picture looking up at the stainless frame of the surrey top.

Ranger Tug 21ec - My Observation!

That's easily explained. $50,000 for the base boat at the factory door, plus $15,000 to add some optional equipment and get the boat where it needs to be for sale. He also might be including sales taxes and additional outfitting in that figure.

Ranger Tug 21ec - My Observation!

It's a $2,500 factory option. Idle Up, I'm a little confused. You said you usually idle along at 8 knots in the Mainship, but 8 knots is too slow. May I suggest keeping the Mainship and throttling up? ;)

    To tug or not?

The Grand Banks 32 is a good boat. A friend of mine had one for many years, and I was along on one short overnight cruise. I liked it. Drawbacks to me were that it seemed small for a 32, and it was a bit prone to rolling in quartering seas. This was 15 years ago, and I don't remember much else...

    Full Canvas or Not

The factory optional "surrey top" with the additional optional enclosure curtains are probably the best choice. It's a stainless frame, not aluminum. Our first two boats just arrived from the factory an hour ago, and the 21EC has the surrey top option. Pictures will be up on our website as soon...

    Raymarine sportpilot autopilot

I read recently (I think on this forum, but I visit many) that they are bringing back the Sportpilot, this time with an improved drive mechanism. You might want to wait for that to happen.

    Bahamas (Bimini) 2008

LOL! I always wanted to cross on a calm summer morning in my 11' Boston Whaler, just to see the looks on the Bahamians' faces when I went in under quarantine flag to clear. "Yes, I'm the master of this vessel! No, we have not had any rats or other vermin aboard!" :D (I planned to make sure...

    Oracle Speaks

From the article: $10 million and we'll find out next year whether it will even be allowed to compete. The original purpose of the Deed of Gift was to promote sailing as a friendly competition among nations. That's a neat trimaran, but maybe something has gone horribly wrong as far as...

    Oracle Speaks

No kidding. Think about the rules for room at the mark. If one of those overlaps another and calls for room at the mark, is the other helmsman even close enough to hear over the blast of wind at those speeds? And if he is, how wide is one of those things? It's going to need a LOT of room at the...

    Oracle Speaks

What a radical boat! I used to own a Corsair F-27, a pretty fast boat which seems very tame by comparison. Now I get my kicks in a Hobie Adventure Island trimaran kayak. Get that thing above 8 knots and it feels dangerously fast! :D If you want to see a really radical design, check out...

    Sell, buy, wait

Hi Greg, I do not mean to disparage your efforts. I am just offering observations of behavior I have seen in the market. I doubt the market will support your price, but you don't need the whole market. You need one person. Maybe you'll find that person. Good luck!

See what $15,000 will buy you

The problem turns out to be geezer-specific, not necessarily browser-specific. I asked my geeky wife (tropicalwebworks.com) why the page would not display those last lines. I was thinking something might be broken, and might have to do with that bullet that does not belong between the teak...

    Sell, buy, wait

A word about that subject. Repairs are needed maintenance, and they maintain the boat and maintain its value when we're talking about 20+ year olds. They add nothing to value. They do make it possible to sell the boat, which beats the alternative, so in that sense they add something to the...

    Sell, buy, wait

It's a buyer's market for powerboats in general right now, and twin gas express cruisers can be found quite a bit cheaper than a couple of years ago. There are some really nice older boats out there for $35k, and not just Carvers. You have to look at what else customers can get for the money...

See what $15,000 will buy you

That's odd. It isn't displaying in my browser, so I looked at the code, and see where it should be. I don't see any broken html tags or anything. The last thing that displays on my browser is "Teak swim platform and boarding ladder" and then it just ends. The lines with the price, location, and...

See what $15,000 will buy you

The Albins from that era are nice boats, very plain and simple, easy to maintain. Co-workers of mine had a 27 like that one. It's a great little cruiser for the money. If that one is as it appears, it's worth more than $15k. I didn't see the price. Where did you get it? Recent sales prices of...
