    Ranger Tugs 21 EC Video

Apparently you can launch an airplane right through a wave: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZRMpxUniOw I think the current economic problems are the result of "related videos" on youtube.

    Ranger Tugs 21 EC Video

Hmmm... Can some check to see if IdleUp is impersonating thataway Bob? ;) Youtube is evil and always sucks me in. You want to see an aircraft carrier go through a large wave? Of course you do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRO4H7n4gUE&NR=1

    Ranger Tugs 21 EC Video

We now have a video of the Ranger 21 EC on our website. I also put it on youtube. I'm currently editing a similar video for the 25.

    Made The R-25 Plunge

Well, if you loved the Rangers but the 21 wasn't big or fast enough, this oughta do the trick! :D (trying to figure out how to bid against Greg in 5 years) ;)

    Stains on Boat

Careful with bleach. You'll learn why they call it stainLESS steel, not stainPROOF steel. I'd try Whink fabric cleaner. The active is oxylic acid, I believe.

BTW, Small Craft Advisor has a writeup on another Sam Devlin creation, the Lichen.

That old style Cetol made it look like someone had spray painted your wood orange. The new stuff looks pretty good. Interesting about the salt breaking down Cetol. It does have iron in it, so it makes sense. For boats that spend a lot of time baking in the sun at the dock, Cetol lasts longer...

    Yanmar verses Cummins

Hah! That will keep you from hearing your engines AND your crew! I look at it this way - you'll probably spend $5k by the time you're done installing a genset and hooking it up. If you end up spending $5,500 because of some very expensive insulation, did that really change your life? I doubt...

2" sheet of 2 lb/sq ft foam Only 267 bucks for a sheet smaller than the ones at Home Depot! Yes, there's a good reason sane people will pay that much for foam. ;)

    Yanmar verses Cummins

The pictures I have posted are of in-stock boats at the dealership where I work. I'm not sure what the other dealers have in stock. Andrew at Ranger could probably tell you who has what, and he will also encourage you to work with your area dealership.

    Yanmar verses Cummins

You're welcome! Comparing apples to apples, the factory genset comes with bronze thru-hull with exterior strainer, seacock, strainer, muffler and exhaust, fuel pickup and return lines and filter, and that little sound shield. All that stuff adds up quick! No doubt you can save some money doing...

    Mast

No, it hinges forward. There is a supporting leg just in front of the windshield to hold it up. This is on the 21:

    Yanmar verses Cummins

IdleUp, if you like that Home Depot foam, you would love the lead filled stuff Bob is talking about. It's expensive, but amazingly effective. Screws and large washers are a better long-term choice than Liquid Nails, IMO. Anyway, here is the 150 Cummins and the genset in the 2009 R-25...

    Mast

Someone mentioned that the boat has 48 mile radar, which would make it a 24. I'll check on Monday. Edit to add: That's a $4,000 retail GPS, and the electronics package is a $7,500 option. The depth/fishfinder function can't cost all that much, so it had better be the 24, which has a retail...

Bob, Cetol holds up better than varnish down here in FL.

I knew I would cause trouble with that one. Maybe I should have just said "most people" and let market statistics speak for themselves. ;) Wooden boats are more trouble down in Florida than in cold places, but some still keep them. I was recently aboard this 1930 Matthews 38 when I sold the...

That Timber Coast looks like a pretty cool toy, and I like the Nancy's China DC design as well. The electric motor in the rudder is an interesting idea, but I could see some problems with it as well. But getting back to the thread topic, that 27 Devlin is a very nice looking boat, but looking...

Yet another use for a flashlight and a mirror.

They use the same mast on the R-25, so here's a pic of one with a radar installed.

    21ec name ideas?

Maybe I'm morbid, but I think of this question differently from most people, it seems. Most want something which will be fun, capture the character of the boat and the owners, and maybe will look cool with other graphics. I look at some of the resulting names and can only think of the mayday...
