Dual battery necessary, AT what point is better to have 2?

Question, with a 1/2/off/combine switch you must manually switch between 1 and 2 after starting and back to 1 before starting again? Assuming 1 is the start battery. Jake

Repower assistance? Four stroke Suzuki 90 hp vs Yamaha F115

And Mercury is the top rated brand on that site. Hmm, makes me wonder about how much trust I would put in that info. Jake

Jabsco 18590 series macerator sewage pump issues

Question regarding the end of the OP. How tight is too tight for a hose clamp? I didn't know if screwdriver tight is max or okay to go a littler tighter with socket wrench or nut driver? Probably depends on type of hose/connection. How about the typical engine hose connection? Jake

    Tow Vehicles 2013 and newer

Colby, My limited research agrees with your extensive research, just nothing out there which isn't mega bucks and/or mega size which is rated to tow something larger than a 22. I only said "short distance" to avoid attacks from those who believe a Highlander rated at 5,000 lbs is a bad choice...

    Tow Vehicles 2013 and newer

So you have the Highlander, Pilot and Ridgeline all at 5,000 lbs tow capacity. All good for at least a short distance tow of a 22. Maybe the longer wheelbase of the Ridgeline would be a plus?

    Don't worry, be happy!

The current sermon series at our church is: FEAR. A week ago was: the fear of failure. I am the champion when it comes to the fear of failure. It does kind of dominate one's life sadly. Great to be prepared, great to avoid failures, but not good when the fear of failure starts to control...

EQ Marine ???? Update from Pacific North West Area Please

Been following this site and the Marinaut for several years, read all of Les's comments, emailed him but never met him. This is just weird. He must either be wealthy or bankrupt if he can just sail away to the Philippines and leave all else behind. Jake

    I'm feeling better!

I think it's a great product but would still like to be clear on how it works. In the video, the guy from West Marine says it charges both batteries and then isolates the two during discharge while the Blue Seas guy says the two batteries stay combined during discharge until they reach 12.7...

    I'm feeling better!

Thanks for the link although it just reminds me of my confused state of mind when it comes to electrical systems. I believe they talk of auto combining the batteries until voltage drops to a certain level. Makes sense but how does the ACR interact with your battery switch. Does your switch...

    Hauling a tomcat255

Not positive Joe but I believe that's a no vote from John. From what I've read on this forum, don't think you're gonna get any yes votes except maybe from the guys who tow with the Toyota Highlanders. Jake

    Active Captain for C map

So all the AC data would be on the chip along with the charts? And then possibly updates could be downloaded to the chart plotter in the future? Thanks, Jake

    Rosborough RF-246 HSV

Just curious, what are your reasons for wanting to downsize? Not what I would consider a huge difference between the 246 and a 22.

    Ranger Tug 23

To me the 23 and the 25 are not even from the same DNA. I think Ranger needs to recognize this in their marketing and even modify the cockpit layout to emphasize it.

    Ranger Tug 23

If I ever become a cruiser, would be more of a weekender which is what the R23 is geared towards. Maybe a simple roller shade setup would make a decent ceiling for the head area. I think the table in the V berth is just there because you don't need that area for a head so they offer the table...

    Ranger Tug 23

I agree that it is a good use of space but as far as I can tell there is no ceiling on the head area. Anybody notice if there is any type of sliding cover to form a ceiling.

I have always had the Merry Fisher boats at the top of my list, any idea of their cost? Jake

    Between the red and green

Thanks for the advice Bob but it does kind if surprise me. I have never cruised but dreamed of cruising the ICW or a major river as many have done. Many of you have spoken of anchoring out on these adventures which I pictured as just picking a spot along the ICW outside of the channel...
