Hello Mel. We are over in Juneau. Would love to get over to Gustavus one day on our boat. Maybe soon :) I just love it when the Gustavus kids would come over to play basketball. They are the Gustavus Foxes! Just makes me smile. Jules

Jay, Very good to hear about the fuel in Angoon. Earlier this month, there was an article about them closing down due to an initiative to bring in pellet stoves and they were concerned about not being able to make it with the lost revenue. Thank you for the update! Julie

Ordering our new Manson anchor today from Fisheries as they just got them in. I wanted to say thanks again for the helpful info. We won't have it in time for Elfin Cove this weekend but hopefully for the next outing. Julie

Thanks again for all of the helpful info. We can see now the difference and will wait for a slotted anchor. It makes sense for us with our need to anchor while fishing. Julie

I have done quite a bit of research on this and ultimately decided on the Manson Supreme anchor. Trouble is, we kind of need it and it is not in stock through Fisheries. We are ordering through Fisheries due to us needing to put it on the barge to Juneau. My question is, is there enough...

Well, it looks like we may be heading over that way the weekend of the 26th. Not sure if you will still be in the area. We plan on fishing near Elfin Cove, Deer Harbor, and possibly cruise into Pelican. Julie

Wish we could meet up with you all in Pelican. Haven't ventured out that far but would really like to. Still working on the anchor setup for our boat. We have been having the most incredible weather up here for several weeks. I really hope it holds for this summer!! Julie

Jay, We just saw our first bear of the season last night. He was a chubby looking black bear and he was eating grass by the side of the road. You should be seeing them soon! Take care, Julie

Sounds like you guys are doing well out there. We have not seen any bears yet this year either. They are slowly making appearances. I think with the rain we are finally getting the grasses will grow up quickly and then we will see them. Take care and I am enjoying your posts! Julie
