saying farewell to my many C-Dory friends

As the vicissitudes of old age have visited me, ( I turn 80 in about a month - July 8) , I decided last fall that it was time to let the Far West II go to another boater. A gentleman living on San Juan Island bought it and trailed it back to the island. My decision was based solely upon my...

    1999 22' Cruiser for sale - 27,000

The Far West II has found a new home in San Juan Island. A former sailor has converted to power and will be seen cruising all around that area. My C-Dory experience began in 1996 and has been very rewarding, including many friends. But all stories including the good ones have to come to an...

This is the 22' Cruiser Far West II, currently located at Bridge Bay Marina in Yellowstone Park and kept at White Sulphur Springs, Mt. during the off season. Health and age (79) are the reasons for the sale. The Far West II has been used but not abused. Green & white. The price is firm...

I hate foot ball and the sea hawks.

Read in a local Montana newspaper this morning an explanation for the Bronco's dismal showing. According to this pundit, before the game, Denver had a team meeting and voted not to show up. Nothing like adding insult to injury? Yellowstone

    New Marinaut Finally Home

Thank you for posting your picture of your new Marinaut. I notice that the bilge pump is where it belongs. When you stop to refuel, you will have a hard time leaving the pumps as many people will want to look at it. A happy problem of sorts. Good luck on your boating. Yellowstone

    BayStar Hydraulic Steering

One thing to consider (if you change your fluid) add the colored -red - stuff that makes your fluid movement easier to follow. John

WHERE CAN I BUY THIS CHEAPER?

Ssobol - the Sunbrella product arrived postage paid factory sealed for $69 - one gallon costing $17.25 per quart. That is a $57 dollar savings. No transportation or mailing costs. The seller is legitimate. John

Loss of Power in Mercury 115hp EFI 4-Stroke

I had my Merc 115 EFI (2006 Yamaha block) serviced in late October. Complete change, fluids, plugs, seals, etc. Sat all winter waiting for annual trip to Yellowstone Lake. Didn't start the engine until early August at the Lake. It started fine but ran rough. Did everything you did, but one...

WHERE CAN I BUY THIS CHEAPER?

Well, that is a possibility but a remote one. I'll let you know when the product arrives. John

WHERE CAN I BUY THIS CHEAPER?

When one lives serious distances from anything which could be called a marine store, whether the dealer is a ma and pa outfit or some national chain, there is a breaking point where mark up and/or just plain gouging has to be considered. Here in White Suffering Springs, the closest "marine...

    Public Apology

Peter -There isn't a human being alive who doesn't regret saying something disagreeable to another. If you are ready for a little bit of "dark" humor, I recall a quotation which went something like this: public confessions may be good for the soul, but they are awfully hard on one's reputation...

    Frozen steering rod

I had the frozen rod experience with a Honda 90, and that is the reason I went to hydraulic steering. Expensive, but worth it IMO. Yellowstone

    Trim tab setting

I have a Ray Marine Sport Pilot plus which had limited use - went to hydraulic steering and installed the remote system - and the Sport Pilot unit now sits in a box. Anyone who wants it can make a reasonable offer - contact me by email. Yellowstone

New Member question concerning trim tabs

I echo Jim B's comments. Have installed tabs on two 22' C-Dorys. If you get that 1999 model (hope you do) be aware that you have lucked out because that was the last year the proper lids were made for the lazerettes and the construction of that generation of Dorys IMO was superior. Yellowstone

    economy of 90 vs 115 on a CD22

Tbag - My comments may or may not be relevant. I ran a Honda 90 for years with my first 22' Dory, and most of my traveling was at sea level. No need for more HP. Then a trip to Yellowstone Lake with an elevation close to 8,000 feet demonstrated the need for trim tabs and more horsepower to...
