    roadrunner trailers

I traded an almost new EZLoader on a Roadrunner model 4500 Long Bunk in 2006. It has 12 ft bunks, load guides, 7 ft tongue and flush kit. The EZLoader was a piece of junk (rant on this trailer on this site a couple of years ago)and just never fit the boat right.Had issues with both LED...

    New Powers

U.S. border agents given power to seize travellers' laptops, cellphones. It will be interesting to see if this "new power" gets exercised. Maybe they will miss the Cuban cigars? http://www.cbc.ca/consumer/story/2008/0 ... ml?ref=rss

    MMSI

I don't want to start a whole debate on MMSI - just a point. I applied for and received my MMSI quite a while ago to configure my VHF for DSC. Later I searched and checked my MMSI on: http://www.itu.int/cgi-bin/htsh/mars/ship_search.sh My vessel is in the system. For...

    Alaska Series Motor Mount

Beautiful Alaska setting! Your tender looks like a perfect fit but will it work with the motor mount installed? and those oarlock doohickeys - any problems with those damaging or hitting the the roof?

    Alaska Series Motor Mount

Received my Alaska Series from Inflatable Boat, Seattle (that's a story in itself) last week. Slight SNAFU though - motor mounts not included but coming on a slow boat from China. Anyone not using or doesn't use their motor mount for a 240TDS who is willing to part with it? I want to get a...

Customs Question -- Entering Canada at Vancouver Island

The closest landing to the Victoria Airport is the Port Sidney Marina about a 20 minutes from Victoria. As Larry said it is also a Customs entry port. Sidney Spit Marine Park is nearby with docks, good anchorage and buoys. I have mostly found anchoring out a bit too exposed. Nearby is...

    Furuno radar inst. question

I re-read my post and then yours and missed an important point in yours. I did not connect the ground screw on the display to anything - it still works. I did wonder about it though. Maybe this might be an issue with a metal hull but I was reluctant to connect the cable shield or ground screw...

    Furuno radar inst. question

I have just finished installing my 1715. As per the manual I connected the black wire to the negative bus and the white wire by way of a fused switch to the positive bus. It works just fine in the driveway - a bit of clutter from the trees though!

    Marine Grade 12 Gauge

My vote is for the Taurus, no C-Dory should leave the dock without one on board. It appears ideally suited for the close quarters combat situations that one would normally encounter on a small boat (I guess the CD25 would qualify too). As the ad for this formidable killing instrument reads it...

A Lovely Walk on the Beach at Birch Bay!

Indeed a lovely view - I have only seen it from the opposite direction (as you have) from Reef Harbour at Cabbage and Tumbo Islands. As a side note - when out I usually launch empty wine bottles with a note inside with my name, email, date and place of launch. The last one I launched last...

    Waggoner Cruising Guide

I suspect that the inclusion in Waggoner of geo coordinates (lat/long) would likely entail the additional disclaimers of their accuracy etc etc. Waggoners is a worthy recreational publication however for a more serious authoritative official publication I prefer to use "Sailing Directions"...

    Nobeltec VNS under WINE

I have copy of VNS 4.01 and it runs well on WinXP. Just installed WINE on Gutsy - has anyone run VNS on WINE?
