    Backup chart plotter system

Can't speak to Raymarine since I've only used Lowrance and Garmin. However, I use the Navionics app on my Samsung tablet as a backup and also for trip planning at hotels when on the road before launching. At home I use it on my desktop PC for planning purposes - - to find launch sites, check...

    Ford f150 tows 11,500 lbs. 30 mpg.

OK, link to diesel not in original post. Still, here is Car & Drivers take on that: There's no denying that the 3.0-liter Power Stroke is a polished performer. The rub comes when you start to delve into the numbers in earnest. In addition to adjusting your fuel-economy expectations for cab and...

    Ford f150 tows 11,500 lbs. 30 mpg.

I have the 2.7 in my XLT Supercrew 4wd and best highway mileage is 24 mpg. Regarding towing, max GCWR is 10,200# so I'm limited to a boat/trailer of about 4500#. So that's OK for 22 but not a 25. Usual caveats about distance towed, hilly vs flat terrain, etc.

    First stop out of Anacortes

When we left out of Anacortes our first night was moored at Spencer Spit. On the way back we spent the last night at James Island SP. The problem with James is limited space at the pier and if late in the day you may have to push onwards.

22 Cruiser Cockpit size, 4 adults

Given your stated needs you may want to look for an Arima 19 or 21. It's a pilothouse like the C Dory and also made in the PNW. They have a larger cockpit than the C Dory 22 and can easily seat four. These boats are used heavily by hard core fishermen who need more room back there. Obviously...

Boattest.com article: How to Choose the Right Tow Vehicle

I must admit to being somewhat disappointed about my brand new F - 150's towing capabilities (on paper - - weather prohibits me from actually getting the rig on the road!). The Ford literature says that for this model the maximum loaded trailer weight is 7600#. As noted previously, the fine...

    PassageMaker article

The March issue has an article titled "6 Pocket Cruisers Ready for the Open Road" and the C-Dory 25 is included. Also covered: Acadia 25,Eastern 248, Parker 2530, Ranger R-23 and Rosborough RF-246. The author had some positive words for the C-Dory but also commented on "the hull structure, which...

    C-Dory Advice

Check out Arimaowners.com. Most of those guys are hardcore fishermen and many take their boats pretty far out. Some good posts there comparing C Dory and Arima hulls/ability to handle offshore conditions. Closest to C Dory 22 would be the Arima 21 Sea Ranger. For fishing most prefer the skip top...

    Lehr 5hp kicker(propane)

Hi Colby. Maybe we can get together so I can check out your fuel system. Since I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger I may see some other things that will give me ideas and/or I missed when we last met up.

    Lehr 5hp kicker(propane)

Hi Jason... agree totally about Torqeedo and have owned a 1003 for about a year. The only issue we have is with weeds wrapping around the prop - - just not enough torque to clear it off. We've been pleasantly surprised at the range but are thinking about buying a second battery for peace of...

    Lehr 5hp kicker(propane)

Just to clarify, this would be used as a get home kicker, not for a dinghy. From many posts here it appears folks have built a variety of dedicated lockers with the required overboard drain. The regulator and valves would be in the compartment. We are looking at having propane on board to use...

    Lehr 5hp kicker(propane)

Anyone have some updated information on propane motors? I'm looking at the Tohatsu 5hp since the Lehr's seem to have questionable reviews. This is what appeals to me: Tohatsu’s 5hp Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) outboard eliminates carrying gasoline on board. The 5hp LPG comes equipped with a...
