Importance of 4x4 or AWD or Locking Diff at boat launch?

Know your ramps...and you'll know your answer. If going all over the place get 4WD for piece of mind and move forward. I tow a Glacier Bay 2670 (about 9K# loaded - think Tomcat) on a Tundra 2WD. Explicitly these means I won't be driving to Denver any time soon...but can hit the entire state...

    Purchase a lightning struck Tomcat?

Just throwing this out there...for $60K what else can you buy? I bought my Glacier Bay 2670 for $28K. 400 hours on 150 HPDI Yamahas. Bought a new trailer for $8500. I looked at a totally redone one - new Zuks, autopilot, trailer, sonars...and I offered $57K. Was outbid at $60K for basically...

Surveyor needed near North Palm Beach

JMc FWIW...Sadu did a survey for me on a Tomcat. (Things didn't work out in the long run - my employement situation became iffy, good boat though). I still have the PDF of the survey. Pls advise if you want to see it.

Surveyor needed near North Palm Beach

I used Sadu Frehm sadufrehm@gmail.com 561-676-4069 for my survey on a Glacier Bay 2670 - 2 or 3 times (diff boats). I was there when the survey was done and he will answer all your questions. I want to say I paid $500-600 per boat. At the end you'll get a professional document. He's SAMS...

Handling a C-Dory in Rough Seas

This is going to be true on any boat - but it leaves out the fact that you need to know your local waters as well. When it gets ugly in Tampa Bay people will run the 6' markers versus being out and exposed in the middle of the bay. Wind direction, tide conditions, weight...all come into play...

    A new "Thataway"

Thanks for the feedback and makes sense. Boat for intended use. There are some quirks about beam and following seas, but man what a ride. Twice I've been in +25mph winds - once intentional (what is she made of?), once not so much. I'll be purchasing 2 Oceantamer bean bag chairs shortly...

    A new "Thataway"

Excellent!! FWIW - I have the 2016 Tundra SR5 and she tows fine on my GB 2670. If memory serves right I do 2200 rpms at 65. Would have to double check. Tow capacity is 10,300#. Pls advise on your thoughts from going from cat back to mono. Right now I have a hard time seeing that happen for me.

    Spot Light

My GB 2670 has a spotlight on the bow. When I bought the boat I asked the guy why he painted the bow rail black. "So when turn on the spot light it doesn't shine back." Given my druthers I would like the light on the roof. Below I removed the paint but will be replacing it with plastic-dip.

Noob C Dory question #4 – boat ramp launching

I solo launch/retrieve a Glacier Bay 2670 - call it 9k pounds 26' somewhat frequently on a Toyota Tundra 2wd 5.7. On a not so good ramp I would want electric over hydraulics.on the brakes...but as it is it works fine. My normal commute to the ramp is 15-25 miles. Always easier with 2 people...

2 mpg improvement on tow vehicle

Heck I don't even get 23mpg in my Tundra on the highway doing 55. Looks interesting...I like it.

    Rust on truck

Yup weed sprayer for me - I sprayer by trailer tires with fresh water every time. $10-15 at harbor freight. Add some salt away if you want.

    Tow vehicle engine choice

Can't complain on my end... Toyota Tundra 5.8L 2016 18-19 city, 21 hwy, towing GB 2670 9K pounds 8-9mpg. Went back and forth on diesel and the $ were a bit over the top. Happy with what I have.
