I refer to Active Captain to find launch ramps.

    Surge Brakes Locked Up

Actually, it's a pretty robust piece of hardware. It's not a piece of plastic, it's a piece of steel welded to the shallow cup holding a powerful magnet. Regardless, when I checked the trailer Monday (moved it around using the magnet in place, and NOT connecting any trailer wiring) the brakes...

    Surge Brakes Locked Up

Thanks for the replies. It will be a while before I can return to the boat/trailer, but I'll be prepared to jack up the wheels and see what is going on. This Dexter unit had a disc/cap over top of the brake fluid reservoir that should be rotated when backing up. The original one functioned in...

    Surge Brakes Locked Up

2007 22 Cruiser, 2007 MagicTilt trailer with Dexter UFP A-70 surge brakes. Background, I have owned the boat and trailer for 4 plus years now, and have launched or retrieved the boat maybe 6 times on the middle to lower Chesapeake with somewhat salty water. Minimal rinsing afterwards. Unknown...

UNABLE TO REMOVE BRASS DRAIN PLUG

In anticipation of installing a boat lift, I wanted to have the option to install the threaded plug from either inside the boat or outside. Inside the boat when on the lift, or outside when it won't be on a lift (so there won't be any growth on the threads. I removed the flange (the female...

Homemade Liquid Foam Coating For Bare Fiberglass

I have a friend who needs to finish off some areas of the bare fiberglass interior of a catamaran he built. IIRC, someone here posted how he mixed a slurry (my word) to coat the fiberglass in the vee berth area. My search here has not been productive, so perhaps I’m dreaming. In case I’m...

    Brakes versus Salt Water

That's a good idea. Unfortunately, the only freshwater bodies around here are ponds, with no ramps!

    Brakes versus Salt Water

Thanks for the replies; so there is hope! I'll use a garden sprayer with Salt Away in the future...and try to find a water hose first if possible. And I had realized that I needed to drive down the road a good ways after launch or recovery. My launch ramp is less than a mile away, too close...

    Brakes versus Salt Water

(I had trouble searching and seeing more than one page of results, so will ask my own question) How thoroughly do the brakes need to be rinsed after being dunked? Should the wheels need to removed to get around the brakes better? Or just spray from the back side and through the wheel spokes...

    22 interior wall ideas

Our previous boat had foam backed vinyl on the interior sides. OK when new, but with time and heat the foam deteriorated and turned to dust. And couldn't be re-secured. I was lucky and found some white slightly textured closed cell foam. At first I was using solvent based contact...

    Drain Plug

I assume we are talking about the transom drain plug. After the first year of owning our 22 Cruiser and storing her in the water, she is now on a lifter. In anticipation of this, last winter I removed the bronze fitting from the transom, and replaced it with a bronze pipe coupling that I...

Sliding Window Pane Replacement - Help!

I'm curious: aren't the sliding glasses made of tempered glass? I thought tempered glass couldn't be cut...once it had been tempered.

Is This Thinking TOO FAR Out of the BOX

I have no knowledge of forward or side scaners, but as to the other question, on our previous catamaran, a depth sounder in each bow--about 15 feet apart-- worked fine, same frequency, no interference. You are, I'm sure, looking for less separation that this.
