    Fuel Prices

Here is a good laugh, $2.09 Lt in Comox today for marine fuel. That's $7.90 a gallon. Over $400 to fill the Dory so I think the" slow cruise" is going to be the norm for DrewBird this year. The price meter spins so fast that you can't watch it. Lol. Jim.

What's your favorite fish for the table ?

Any fish cooked on a grill on the back of my C-Dory with in a half hour of catching it! And yes lets hope the border restrictions end soon, I would love to get back to Friday Harbour. Jim.

URGENT EMERGENCY DSC CALL BUTTON USE

Another good reason to program your radio with a MMSI # for safety, you can poll your buddy's position. You must be connected to your chart plotter with NMEA 183 so when you pole your buddy or answer a destress call, their boat shows up on your display without talking to them. This is great for...

    Intuition to Alaska - 2021

Not much traveling through Canada this year unless you have a work boat that can make the trip none stop. Pleasure craft are a nix, you must make the trip none stop with no fuel stops or anchoring. Last summer fuel was tough, I know because I hated carrying extra fuel in jerry cans. I really...

    Requesting recommendation on prop

Max 5000 rpm is on spec if you are running with an very heavy load that will lighten up as you burn fuel & water etc. The mercury dealers want you to run at 5250 max rpms with your usual load for best fuel economy. 6000 rpms is a maximum target with a light boat for speed and water sports, but...

    Cruising into the open ocean

I like twins when headed off shore, twin boats that is. A buddy system is the best! Takes the pressure off you traveling with two or three boats working together, and increases your catch of tuna. Towing a boat back with bad fuel, no steering, or missing legs from a log strike is not fun...

How slow can you stay on plane?

Jennykatz , interesting I get the same results with a 90hp Merc CT using 15x17 prop. on a 22 cruiser heavy loaded. My fuel consumption is quite linear from 14 to 22 knots. Jim.

Is shutting down the economy worth it?

Is shutting down the economy worth it? Don`t know, but I do know talking politics is a no win. On a bright note, I spent a week isolating in Barkley Sound on the boat, and I`ve never seen the sky so dark blue and clear. No jet streams or noise on the radio, no other boats. At night the stars...

    For those who like Ethanol

Interesting confusion on ethanol blending with gasoline. Ethanol has a higher octane 118 compared to gasoline, a high vapour point RVP which makes it a good component for winter blending. But ethanol has 33% less energy compared to gasoline, which explains the loss in power and mileage. Most...

    For those who like Ethanol

This is my understanding of why fuel is getting so expensive. Premium fuel needs to be around 91 octane, so you won't see ethanol added. Mid-grade fuel is a blend of regular and premium to make 89 octane and has about 5% ethanol. Regular fuel has 10% ethanol added for 87 octane, and 85 octane...

22' model - best repower choice

San, I don't think you require a permatrim for your average cruising as it does cause a bit of drag on boat. The 90CT motor jumps on plain even if you don't trim the motor down. If you run the boat very light with one person it can actually torque the boat over to the right if you hit the...

22' model - best repower choice

I am super happy with my 2015 90 CT mercury, I was nervous when I bought it being just released as a new motor built by mercury, 900 hrs later not a single problem. I do my own maintenance so its only had to go to the shop for a diagnostic ( 100$ ) 300hr service. The Command Thrust with the...

Wiper motor replacement for c-dory Tomcat 24

I replaced my motor years ago and remember how difficult it was. I also replaced the wiper switch that I hated with a floor dimmer switch. A single tap with my right foot turns it on or off, nice touch for a single swipe which most of the time is all that is required. I don`t have to think about...

Honda 90 HP Fuel Injection Alarm

I don't know about a fuel injection alarm, but if you suck up some weeds or debris you will get the same alarm from waterflow/temp. it will stay on until you clear it out, just a thought! Jim.

Need Help!! Never ending issue Suzuki DF150

Maybe a faulty 02 censor, or the tiny HP fuel filter in the fuel rail is partially plugged? Jim
