    Bahamas Anyone?

Just curious, and maybe I missed something , but: Did anyone yet mention returning?

Look what I Found on the Web

You people are a bunch of sadists. I also have a mile of white in my Alberta backyard, but it's snow. Coupled with the minus 24 (windchill of minus 41), I'm sitting beside a hot air vent trying to keep warm, and praying that my kid doesn't wallop our C-Dory in the driveway with a hockey stick...

    Beaching a C-Dory

I too moved from aluminum to a fibreglass C-Dory. It took less than a minute (helped by the wake of a Sunday driver who was saving gas by running bow up at five knots!) to grind through the gel coat while beached on a bit of gravel! Figure out a "clothesline" system or use a dinghy. I have had...

    Vacation advice for the caymans

Little Cayman is definitely worth a visit, if only to see that there are sparsely populated areas of the Carribean. Don't know about fishing, but there are free bikes at the Sports Bar, and, once you're about half a mile from the airstrip, you're pretty much on your own. The bikes will take you...

If you were planning a fishing trip??

If you're going to make the trip to Vancouver Island for salmon, I'd do as others have suggested. Either stick to the West Coast of the Island (Port Renfrew, Bamfield, Port Alberni, Tofino) or go past Campbell River to Port Hardy, if you want quieter water. The east side of the Island below...

    neah bay to bamfield bc

FYI everyone: These rockfish, no fishing, closures are a big pain. Especially as they are spelled out in GPS co-ordinates, not using obvious geological features. (Had to do with losing court cases due to lack of very specific boundaries, I believe.) Having said that, if one goes to...

Lloyds: I don't see why you can't move to the Island. Just declare yourself as an economic refugee at the border and we'll be glad to let you in, as far as I can determine. Hell, we'll even give you a monthly stipend that's 40% or so more than we Canadians get for our old age pension! (Globe and...

    Canadians buying C-Dorys...

Hi Ron: As per previous e-mail, I purchased a 16 cruiser from Port Boathouse in Port Alberni in April. They weren't much help with the lousy weather out there, but they were really good to deal with and they know what they're doing. Ask for Bob Cole. (250-724-5754)

    neah bay to bamfield bc

As an Islander, I concur with previous recommendations. My one road trip to Bamfield actually had the dash of my car fall into my Father's lap! Never did find the muffler pieces. Ucluelet/Tofino road is paved, and, if you take it easy on the hills, you won't blow your transmission any near as...

    Bahamas...

Hi: FYI boat transport costs: A friend just got a quote for moving a 25 foot Whaler from Florida to Blaine at $5100 (Canadian).

Regarding sails...Have you looked at a traction kite, like the kite boarders use? I'm doing so, and have a 6 metre that will easily lift me off my feet! Original intent of these things was to power a sailboat. Will keep you posted on results. Big benefit is very small storage space required. Doug
