    Compasses: Is bigger better?

You drop your phone and tablet overboard. You lose your electronics, no chart plotter. Foggy, no visual. Yeah, I guess a compass could come in handy. Martin

    Single Vs. Twin Engine Pro/Com

I agree. Buy the best condition boat you can find, regardless of power. When I was searching for a C-Dory I had already made that decision. Mine came with twins, I was super happy. I would have been just as happy if it had come with a single. I do not fish so I never had to give a thought to...

    05/11 - 05/14 - Friday Harbor 2023

Some of our friends from the South seem a little anxious about crossing the Georgia Strait for the first time. I was based on Vancouver Island and in 25 years of crossing the GS regularly (more times than I can remember) I have never had a problem. There may have been twice during a crossing...

    Single Vs. Twin Engine Pro/Com

I had twins plus a outboard for the dinghy onboard every where I went. Any advance on 3 engines on a C-Dory ? Martin.

    No wind. Martin.

    Single Vs. Twin Engine Pro/Com

As a test to myself to prove that I could do it with twins. I entered my marina, did a 90 degree right turn, straight ahead for about 200 ft, 90 degree left turn, then 50 ft straight, followed by a 90 degree right turn into my slip. All this was achieved without me touching the steering wheel...

    Friday Harbor Gathering

You could leave your rig in Anacortes and use your boat to go to Friday Harbor. Much more fun and a easy ride in your C-Dory. I would not want to haul a 50ft rig around FH tight streets. You still have to launch your boat then find a secure storage for your truck and camper. The run from...

    "Orkney" Pilot House 20

C-Dory 22 Cruiser water Tank Capacity - Not 20 gallons

I believed my water tank capacity on my 2009 boat was 18 gallons. So there's another number to throw into the mix! I will fess up, I never actually tested the capacity. Martin.

    05/11 - 05/14 - Friday Harbor 2023

I am sure there will be capable leaders taking the boats through the rapids at the entrance to Princess Louisa Inlet, but for anyone not joining the FH gathering and maybe wanting to do the PL Inlet solo and catch up with the others, here is some info that may help. I have taken 2 cruise trips...

    Thrusters on a C-Dory

Do you have a 'spinner knob' on the steering wheel? If not, think about installing one. With practise you will find manouvering easier. Don't buy one from a Chandlers, much cheaper at a Farm equipment shop. Martin.

    Dingy launch

Depends what you want to use your dinghy for? Do you have wife, kids, dogs? Do you want to go straight to shore or potter along the shoreline exploring? The answers will tell you what size dinghy and motor you need. For Nomad we had a small 2 person dingy that I could haul out of the water...

    New high (low?) for C-Dorys?

Bought my C-Dory, sold her 7 years later for 5k more than I paid for her. New owner had her for a few years and I believe sold her on for a handsome profit. If you are thinking about buying a C-Dory, buy it now. If you want to play a waiting game for prices to drop, you may be waiting a long...

    best outboard for a 9'dingy

If I wanted to get up on plane because I am in a hurry I would use the mother boat. For the dingy, I loved my 2.5 Suzuki. Weighs 29 lbs, can pass it over the gunnel and on to the dinghy using one hand. Easy to stow in the cockpit as well. Martin.
