Yamaha 50 hp 4-stroke

I have never had luck with extended warranties ...... Often they are not connected with the brand vehicle at all.....just some sort of sleazy insurance company....
I have 300 hours on my Yamahas and they are great...the only problem I have had with them is the 100 hour tune-up that I had a dealer do....really did a poor job.(but expensive)..I later had to adjust the carburetors just to make the things run... never going back there....ever !
I think your fine...... the initial manufacturers warrantee is good...once it goes out of warrantee anything that was defective from the manufacturer will have already surfaced....

Why worry ? Be Happy !!

I agree with Joel. Extended warranties are just a way for the insurance company or service company to make money.

The odds of you using it are very slim. If you are really concerned, put the money you would have spent on the extended warranty in the bank. If you do have an engine issue, supplement the repairs with that money.

I agree, it is an "insurance" policy. The warantee company is betting that nothing will fail on the motor, and you are betting that it will. The odds are in the warantee company's favor. You also want to read the fine print very carefully.

Many motors come with long warantees--such as the Suzuki "give me six".

I have a Yahama 115 and it is a great motor. It survived a 50 foot fall during a hurricane, sitting neglected in the open for 7 months awaiting insurance adjustment--and still ran like a top when I started it.

Only consider extended warranty coverage if it is offered directly by the engine MFG. If offered by an affiliated vendor, forget it! Good luck, Mike.
