On the way back from fishing this morning i decide to see how fast my boat would go..My boat was loaded with fishing gear ,nearly full gas tanks, downriggers and general boat equippment. The water was flat and calm so i slowly brought her up to WOT..I was surprised to see her hit 30 mph on my GPS. and that is with my DF 70 Suzuki. I didn't think it would go that fast.....normally i cruise at 18 mph. Tug

What RPM did you get to, and what size prop?
One 6 lb..Atlantic Salmon...( you don't get them more than 8-10 lbs here )..only allowed to keep one......The prop i an running is a 13.75 x 15.........i forgot to check the RPM'S...@ WOT.......i know when i am running @ 18-19 MPH the RPM'S is 4000-4100.....I will check and record the RPM'S next time ,probably Sunday when i go out around 5:30 AM. ..on the way back from fishing if the water is good i will see what i can get. .... There will be some who doubt your tale. I am not one of them. I will bet though that you don't keep her in the water and that you have either recently cleaned the hull and/or waxed it.
A while back I posted that we had with a freshly waxed hull planed the boat and attained 17 mph on a run with just one of our 40 Hondas in fresh water. There was some disbelief.
I did not post it here (and should have), but after only 9 days of sitting in salt and brackish water we could no longer get on step and barely made 8 mph@WOT.
We now have a boat lift and hope to get back at least some of the performance. For some reason I think the Cdory hull performs better in Great Lakes water than ocean salt. Salt water being heavier maybe?

Just got back from fishing...3 hours and nothing....on the way to my fishing spot i cranked her open...i was headed up river..( against the current )... and got 29.7 MPH and my RPM was 5600-5700 @WOT...I just got a slip at the marina on July 2/2010 and yes my boat was cleaned and waxed ....Don't other similar boats get the same speeds.I am undecided on a boat's name.....still looking.Would like to call her ...C-Tug........but i probably would be getting alot of calls to come and tow other vessels..Tug

I've had the same results with the Jenny B. Same size prop, Yamaha F75, similar WOT rpm early mornings on the San Diego bay with full tanks, normal gear. 75 hp was, after all, the "factory recommended" power for that year and came highly recommended by a very experienced local Brat, Rana Verde's Chris. I went with the dealer pitch recommendation though (17 pitch) and it was a dog. Soon as I switched to the 15 pitch, it woke up. I didn't have bottom paint and there was little or no wax on the bottom because it resided in a chlorine charged bathtub at a local marina. Still got close to 30 mph, popping over occasionally.
Though many recommended the 90, we were never disappointed with our 75. Like Tug, we rarely went WOT and outside the bay it was 12-14 mph or pound.
