Winter storage re: water in motor

I just bought a 22 C-Dory cruiser. It has been in temperate climates- Is there any water in the engine which needs to be drained before it gets to Alaska and freezing temperatures early November?
Shipping from Seattle Oct 22. Pretty stoked. I got the 2001 from George w/ twin 40 Hondas.
Sad to say it won't get in the water until spring. Peter
 
There shouldn't be water in the engine as long as the engines are tipped down and allowed to drain. In Alaska, store it with the engines tipped down. With the engines up, water can collect in the prop hubs and when it freezes will crack.
 
Peter, Congrats on the new to you. You will love it, and the 22 is about as perfect as you can get :thup :thup unless something else works better. :wink

Thanks for the quick come back- I used to have a 25 hp johnson 2 stroke which I never even thought to worry about...

Its probably best to change the oil in the outboards lower units before storing in freezing conditions, just on the outside chance there has been water intrusion.
