My 2006 22' C-Dory has the AFI 1000 wiper motors. The port side one is mounted flush under the windshield frame, but the starboard one is mounted on extension tubes that look to be about 1" or so. This is to allow the motor to clear the window frame while making the shaft exit at the same point under the window. The newest 22's seem to have the wipers mounted above the glass. This might bear a bit of investigation. Perhaps it's easier to mount them there.
