Why was my boat for sale ad deleted

rock knocker

New member
I posted my cdory a few weeks ago for sale and looked it up this morning and was not on the classifieds section any longer. Went ahead and put it up again. Can someone please tell me why? Thank you in advance.

I don't know either but I 'll take a guess. The guys who run the place occasionally do some house keeping. I noticed last night that someone posted a price adjustment on a boat for sale, in a stand-alone thread, with no connection to know what boat, or original price, no link to pictures and only a single digit posting history. Another "for sale" thread was locked after someone asked if that boat was still for sale, so something was going on recently.

Good afternoon. Late last night I did some clean up on the For Sale forum and moved a lot of sold boat ads to the Reference forum and also moved some non sale topics to forums where they would be a better fit. It looks like I moved your ad to the General forum by mistake if it was originally in the For Sale section. It is in the General section now.

If you are ever looking for a previous post you can click on your profile and choose to display all posts. That also works for anyone's profile if you are looking for something someone else posted.

I apologize for the confusion. But hey - your ad is now posted in two places on here!

Come on, Mike - if you were being really customer (?) oriented, you would offer him all his money back on the price of the ad!

Ohhhhh...

Some forums where I participate require a paid membership status to put something in the classified ads. Another requires a 50 post minimum in order to post a for sale ad - that way you have active participants selling their boat, not just someone who gets on once to run an ad then disappears.

You and Bill, out of the kindness of your hearts and in the name of all that is good in C-Doryland, allow C-Dorys for sale here as a benefit for current and potential owners. This is like a million times better than Craigslist or putting up a flyer in the local laundromat, because anyone interested in buying or selling a C-Dory WILL wind up here. It is sad to think someone has one of these great boats and didn't utilize this amazing, friendly, informative, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and irreverent place until he or she (not making any gender bias references here) decides to sell the boat! Alas (and how often do you get to say "alas"?), lost opportunities.

Ummm... I was digressing again, wasn't I? What I meant to say was: what a great resource for for any past, present, and potential C-Dory owners! :thup :thup

You guys rock!

Jim

Yup, Jim's right again, still, some more, and then some. What's new

Tybo,

Is it possible to set out a definite format for listing a boat for sale which would force everyone to use it.

Having them in order by year like the bottom part of the list is the very best way in IMHO.

Anyway..........thanks for your work in doing this for the brats.

Go to “Forums” and then the section called “C-Dory Market Place”.
Directly under that heading is a section called “C-Dory Boats For Sale By Owner”. Click on that and then the first thread is:

Sticky: C-Dory For Sale Rules - READ BEFORE POSTING

Find it here:
http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t=24288

PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING BEFORE POSTING YOUR AD

• Ads allowed for C-Dorys, Cape Cruisers and Marinauts only
• Private party sales only. No dealers, no brokers. If you are an authorized C-Dory factory dealer, you can post ads for your inventory in the C-Dory Sales - Dealers forum.
• Don't post ads here you've seen elsewhere, i.e. craigslist, etc.
• Only boats immediately available for sale by the poster are allowed. Do not post links to your boat at an auction site, i.e. eBay.
• An asking price must be listed with your ad.
• While not mandatory, if listing your boat here results in a sale - show your appreciation by making a donation to the site via the Tip Jar on the home page.
• Once your boat has sold or is no longer available, please reply to your original post and/or drop me or TyBoo a PM so we can remove your listing from the For Sale forum.

Ads placed in this forum automatically get listed on the home page in the For Sale section. Therefore, it is important that you follow this standard format in the title of your post:

Year Model, $Price (City, State/Province)

For example:

2002 25 Cruiser, $75,000 (Seattle, WA)

Ads will stay active until 90 days of inactivity has occurred. After which, the ad and any follow ups will be automatically deleted.

Some other notes:

• Posts can not be edited. This restriction is in place to prevent fraud. If there are necessary changes to your ad, reply to your post with a follow up. If you wish to change the price of your ad and have it reflected in the title and/or first post of the thread, drop me or TyBoo a PM and we'll modify the post for you.
• Attachments are allowed, and encouraged - add some photos!
• Be as descriptive as possible. List all options and electronics.
• List your location
• Listing your phone number, particularly if you don't frequent the C-Brats routinely to follow responses to your ads or PM's is a good idea.

Good luck with your sale!

I think that makes the process and the format pretty clear. Some folks just have trouble with following the directions there.
