Who's in, or headed-for Southeast AK this summer?

While we were at Lake Powell recently, it became clear that my summer had "opened up" somewhat ... and staying home just wasn't an option.

As a result, "KATMAI" will be headed North from AZ to Prince Rupert as early as Tuesday (6/15). I am (loosely) planning to be on the water for July and August, and home (AZ) by early September. (I plan to be at the Powell CBGT in September....)

Aside from my favorite Southeastern locale's, I hope to make it back to Elfin Cove, Baranoff Warm Springs, and farther south to Red Bluff and Craig (plus all the other "normal" stops).

Who else is headed North for the summer?

Best,
Casey

Casey,

We live in Coffman Cove, Alaska, which is on the inland passage on Clarence Strait, East side of Prince of Wales Island.

There is a nice Harbor here with transient moorage available Advise if you want us to make reservations with the Harbor Mistress.

Silver and Halibut fishing is usually good during July and August.
:D

Fuel is availabe here ,but we will have to haul it down in cans unless we make advance arrangements with R&R Fuel to bring the fuel truck down to the dock for you.

If you are interested we will provide showers and laundry at our house.

PM us if you are interested or call (907) 329-2205.

Regards , Doug and Betty Cruickshank

I am heading North...to Astor, Fl. but as soon as you heard, you packed up and headed west...and now to the PNW....Have a great cruise and keep us updated on your travels....We will be enjoying the cool springs of central Florida while your enjoying the cool waters of Ak.

Later Buddy,

sounds like an enjoyable summer. I'll be reporting for summer duty next week in elfin cove, I always keep an eye open for C-Dorians

New Moon launched just today at Prince Rupert. Planning to wander SE AK until the end of August, then back down across the Dixon and the 1850-mile drive home. Four different sets of guests are making rendezvous - hope we can meet all the scheduled dates!

Presently bouncing around in our slip at the PRRYC. We may be waiting to head north from PR for a few days - Dixon Entrance forecast for tomorrow is 35-45 knots!

We'll be south of you on the BC coast in July, but will probably be in Petersburg (sans boat) sometime in mid to late August. Let me know if you're going to be in the area then.

Sure glad to hear your heading north again this summer. Would be wonderful to meet up in any of those places you mentioned. Yep our plans are changing again too, with new grandchild's arrival delaying our heading north to PWS early as we would have liked, we're considering launching out of Skagway again and saving the PWS for early May next year.

Thanks for the "Mariner's Weather Guide, Gulf of Alaska Coastal Waters" PDF file. I printed it off to save for this summer and future trips.

Plan to give you a call this weekend. Most likely tomorrow.

Best Wishes,

Jay

Could you upload this, please? Thanks!

The J.C.Lately anticipates departing Sequim Monday, 14 Jun.
We have a brief permit for Glacier Bay the second week of July.
Our itinerary is tentative and the schedule likewise. We don't plan to venture up Lynn Canal.

Anyone heading north and looking for a good safe storage for truck and trailer in our area, (North Olympic peninsula - Sequim), I have a good location. I keep my boat there, and there is covered, inclosed, or open storage. I was talking with the owner the other day and he has plenty of spaces, has not done short term storage but I'm sure he would with a good recommendation (C-Brat membership would probably do). I didn't talk rates, but if anyone is interested, PM me and I will send you his contact info or just get a rate from him and send it back to you. It is l0 minutes from the marina, and I would be happy to provide shuttle transportation. Just trying to help out here.
