Who is interested in a 2015 Upper Chesapeake gathering??

Up until a few years ago, a core group of dedicated CD owners planned a great gathering at a family owned marina on the upper Chesapeake. I had a lot of fun and I know that others did too. Unfortunately, the work of organizing became too much for the folks who'd done it for years. I'm wondering, how much interest is there out there among mid-Atlantic C-Dory owners for a gathering this year, maybe in later July or August?? I'll look for comments and responses! There a couple of us in Middle River who might take on the local coordination. Write a response if you're intersted!!

Jwwitch,

We are definitely interested, but subject to my unpredictable work schedule.
We can launch from Annapolis or Kent Island, or trailer up to the rendezvous marina. Do you have more specific ideas about this event?

Mary and I are on the ICW (currently at the Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center), and headed toward the Chesapeake.

We'll be watching your CBGT thread with interest.

I think a weekend cruise (or longer for some) might be a little more interesting. Maybe a mixture or marinas with floating docks and an anchor out night rafted together would be a little more exciting. We launched at Duffy's marina in Georgetown on the Sassafras river and stopped for lunch rafted up in Worton Creek then on to Rock Hall for the first night. From Rock Hall we went through Kent narrows and down to and through Knapps narrows. We wound around Broad creek etc. up to the San Domingo and anchored out on the back side of St Michaels. There are three nice anchorages there. There is a dinghy dock of sorts there. It's a beautiful ride and St. Michaels is fun for a few hours. Coming in on the Miles river side means you have to back track to get out of there. If folks wanted to continue it's a short ride to Oxford. The Tred Avon river has many exploring opportunities. The next day you can head over to Annapolis. The Severn River is another beauty. Ego alley is fun for a night. Then up to Baltimore. Then back over to the Sassafras which has a nice anchorage near it's mouth. Then a short ride back to Duffy's which can accommodate with a nice launch ramp and decent docks with parking available for the tow rigs.
I think some lost interest because parading around playing whazoo and eating large was not worth the effort. If the idea is to just launch and dock up some presence by persons of interest, maybe a Garmin rep or anyone that can add to a boaters book of knowledge. Maybe Casey and his wife can speak of their adventures and how they do things while spending more time then most on a small boat. Just my opinion here.

It sounds like you might have done this sort of thing before!! Lots of great ideas. As Pete said, "definitely interested, but subject to my unpredictable work schedule." If can't make the whole cruise could join up at any of mentioned spots for a day or two. I haven't been to Georgetown but can vouch for all the other destinations being worth the trip.

We would be interested in a Chesapeake gathering. Either hanging around a marina for the weekend getting to know folks or a few day cruise.

We are definitely interested and would be free to participate in August. The Sassafras River is a favorite of ours....great anchorages and marinas. We're based in Annapolis and will stay tuned.

We would definitely like to do this, schedule permitting. The former Lankford gathering was in June, and was awfully hot then, so July or August might be worse (but not a deal breaker).

We'll stay tuned.

P.S. We liked playing "whazoo" and eating large.

We never made it to the Chesapeake gathering--they stopped before we could come.
Does anyone know--Will there be a NC gathering in September this year?
If not, what about September?

Definetly interested. We had attended three get-to-gathers on the Chester River and really enjoyed them. The last one only had 9 people attending.
We live in Virginia.

Have not heard anything about the NC gathering for 2015, but is usually in September. Missed it last year when we were rear-ended on our way there. Have another boat now and are looking forward to going again.

We missed it last year also--when our son and family (complete with brand new grand baby) called Wednesday to see if they could come down that weekend!
I heard about your wreck, followed by the c-dory shop burning. What a weekend!

Are any C-Brats planning to get together on the Chesapeake Bay this summer? Based in Annapolis, we could head north or south....although the Upper Bay would be free of jelly fish. Most of August is good for us.
