Where's Fuel Vents on 22' Cruiser

They should be on the outside of the gunwale on each side. They should be circular, stainless, a little more than an inch in diameter sticking out from the gunwale about 3/4 and with two screened vents on the bottom curve of the vent. Find the fuel fillers and you will see the vents not far from them.
 
Thank you for your response Patti and Barry. The panels in front of the tanks are glued at the bottom any ideas on how to get them off? Robert why do you think that fuel injected engines don't need vents in the fuel tanks? George
 
The wording of my last post was perhaps misleading. CG regulations specify that a fuel tank aboard a vessel must be vented so as not to become pressurized(negative or positive).

The intent of my post was to point out that you may not have the typical thru hull type vent on your boat. If all goes well here I will post 2 pictures of the vent system on my 2009 Stingray I/O.

The first picture shows the fuel fill. You can see a oblong shaped hole at the top of the opening about an inch below the threaded part. There is a hose 5/8 ID running from the tank along the top of the fuel fill hose and connecting to a barb behind this oblong hole. This is the hose that normally went to a thru hull. The purpose it now serves is to allow air out of the tank when refueling.

The second picture shows the backside of my gas cap. When under way air is allowed in around the part that looks like a gear - bypassing the O ring that seals out water and into the fuel fill thru 5 small holes on the inner part. On a hot day when fuel is expanding air is allowed out the small holes - past the O ring and out around the gear shape to the outside ambient pressure.

When I bought the boat and saw how this worked I assumed that it was for environmental concerns. Just a couple of weeks ago I mentioned this to a friend who is fairly boat wise and he told me that this type of venting was used on fuel injected boats. He did start explaining why but we were interrupted and I don't have all the details. I did try to google some info on it but havn't had time to research it thoroughly yet.

If your gas cap looks like mine you will probably not have a thru hull. I believe it is called the Perko fuel fill/vent.

What you are saying is the the tank is vented, and that the venting goes into where the fill is. My Caracal, which has the tank under the console has a vent system like this. Nothing at all new, this system has been around for some time.

There is no reason that this would be restricted to fuel injected boats--it works just as well in carbureted boats.
