Where To Buy?

I am in the gathering information stage before I purchase a 22ft Cruiser. I have debated long and hard old verses new and I am leaning in the direction of new.

I have visited the Kent Site because it is close to home and talked to the dealer. My next step is to visit EQ Marine on Whidbey Island.

Any input on the strengths and weaknesses of the two dealers.

Thanks

The only weakness with EQ - Les has been selling so many boats around here, he may not have any left...

EQ is 875 miles from me, and there are at least 5 dealers closer. When it came time to get my 22, I didn't even consider any of the others; this is not a comment on the other dealers per se, but Les is a known quantity, with a well-deserved reputation for being honest and knowledgeable. A new 22 is a chunk o' change, and there are a bazillion ways to get one configured - picking the right dealer will save you tons of headaches down the road.

Give Les a call, or drop him an email - you will not be disappointed. He'll treat you right, whether you buy from him or not. And he makes a damn fine latte, to boot.

C-Sick,

Da Nag beat me too it. I bought a new boat from the factory last Feb. Not having at the time known about Les. Nothing at all bad about buying from the factory, but Les probably knows more about the C-Dory and what works on them than anyone. There is a great thread on Da New Da Nag on the General Chat page that has a great deal of info from about three previous owners that have just ordered new 22's in the last three weeks.

If I were buying a new boat again I would buy it from Les at EQ Marine in a heart beat.

Keep us posted.

I agree with the rest.. EQ Marine, is the way to go...period.. if we had it to do over again, that would be the way we would do it. Come to the SBS too ,meet your fellow C-Dory Folks too.

C-Sick -

The last we heard, or so I thought, was that you were looking for a boat. Then I ran across this in the Wallas stove discussions:

I have a 2003 Cruiser.....
OK - let's have the details! We want to hear all about it! Please!

I was really pleased to pick up a 22 advertised on this sight. The owner lived on Lake Washington and because of a back injury needed to sell.

Seattle Gray
Twin Honda 40 (50 hours)
Wallas Stove
High Top
Windlass
Upgrade on Interior Cushions

Never been in Salt Water

I brought it down lake to Renton and moored it at Rainier Beach the day before the big storm hit. Four boats were sunk in the Marina. The boat angels were looking out for me. In fact the Marina people retied her and there was no damage.

Only managed a few Lake cruises around Mercer Island. Looking into a trailer so I can get her home and give her the TLC she deserves.

Thanks a million for asking.

Way to go there C-Sick,!!! A twin to our Boat!! We will still see you for the SBS and the CBC right? Good time to check out the trailers there. But if we did it agian woud go with a King Trailer. not any specific reason except that I like the way C-Dory's sit on them.

I went to your photo album. Love your radar rack and set up. What kind of inflatable are you using?

I plan to be at the SBC and hope to meet some of the good C-Brats.

I am anxious to learn some good seamanship skills so we can enjoy all the beautiful Northwest sights.

Thanks much for the compliments... we went pricey on the inflatable. It is an Avon 8 footer. It is the "Red Start" model.
Looking forward to you meeting us all at the SBS-CBC.
