? Where to buy good eggs ?

Ok, I’m taking the plunge here because I probably eat a dozen and a half eggs a week. Egg Lands Best EB eggs (EB stamped on each egg) in the white Styrofoam carton. If you’re a tree hugger animal humanitarian then you can get the cage free variety of the same- I think they let them watch TV too. We get them up here in Alaska and sure you can find somewhere outside. Nothing like good eggs and lots of them, cholesterol be damned. Scrambled, 3min soft boiled, fried sunny side up, French toast, omelets, yummy stuff; food of the gods.
EB eggs are high in omega 3s and have 1/3rd less cholesterol then regular eggs, and they taste great.
Best eggs I have ever had were over in Hawaii, must be the volcanic enriched soil; the yokes are bright orange.

There, let’s get back to talking about boating!! :D

Today was attempt one (at least of the most recent obsession) to buy some good eggs in Seattle. According to various posts on the interwho, the Pike Market Creamery sells good, locally grown, cage free eggs (supposedly from Sea Breeze Farms on Vashon). So I drove over to the market on my way home and located the Pike Market Creamery. They didn't sell Sea Breeze eggs but rather sold eggs from Stiebrs Farms (Yelm). I bought a dozen and had to try one for dinner. I cooked it side by side with one from Safeway. No real difference. Very disappointing (especially at $4.65/dozen). Maybe this weekend I'll try to get the Sea Breeze eggs from one of the farmers' markets.

Another prime example of why the costs of "research and development" are so great.... :wink

Roger,
We have our own hens and there really is a difference. Not just the color. Eggs from chickens allowed to forage have higher nutritional value, and lower cholesterol.
We are out in Carnation and the farmer's market is closed now but the best eggs there come from Growing Things Farm at the bottom of Novelty Hill along the Snoqualmie River. 425-788-0480 I think her eggs are for sale at PCC.
Michaele sells her free range eggs, roasting chickens, organic pork (delicious- just had some last weekend!) and organic vegetables at various other farmer's markets around town.
Customers can subscribe to her CSA weekly delivery subscription farm also.

Hope this helps.

Anita tells me there will be semi urban chickens in our back yard sometime before Christmas . Guess Ill be building a poultry condo soon ! It was a subtle hint . Funny thing is I love eggs and she just wants to play with the chickens . I guess thats a win /win !
