On the used market, 25s and TomCats all seem to be from 2007 or earlier. I know the original company went through bankruptcy and restructuring during the financial crisis, and production has been much lower since then, but I almost never see any C Dorys younger than 20 years old for sale anywhere, even through dealers.

My next thought is, "Well, maybe the people who own late model C Dorys love them and just never list them." But when I look around the C Brats forum, I also do not see many adventures, discussions, or photos involving late model C Dorys.

So where are they? Does anyone here have a C Dory 25 or TomCat from 2020 or newer that they are actively using?

Check out the D-Dory company facebook page. They show several Tom Cats under construction and some being sent to Florida, so someone has them. NMI doesn't build boats on spec, only with firm orders, and there is a 10-14 month wait list according to Michael Millison, the VP for production. NMI has the molds for four "brands" of boats - C-Dory, Osprey, SeaSport, and Orca, and builds whatever is ordered. Since NMI only builds around 50 boats a year (according to Michael), there are not many new C-dories being built, and it depends on what is ordered.

I have a 22' cruiser that I ordered in August 2023 and and finally got in April 2024. So far this year we have been on the boat 27 days of which 18 were overnight. Mine is what Julie at NMI calls the E-dory (electric C-dory).

Thank you Tom, I did know that NMI only creates CDory's on order. I thought they would still have a small trickle of spec builds that are sent out to dealers.

And very cool on the electric C-dory! I looked into your gallery and speed/wattage curves. How have your outings been? Have you been out in >1ft seas?
