LOOKING TO BUY A 16' ANGLER OR CRUISER AND PREFER AN OLDER MODEL (IN THE 80'S). CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERE IS MUCH DIFFERENCE IN THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW VERSUS OLDER MODELS? WHEN LOOKING AT PIX DOESN'T SEEM TO BE MANY CHANGES, BUT THEY DON'T SHOW THE SMALL DETAILS THAT ARE IMPORTANT. THANKS FOR ANY INSIGHT.

I'm no expert on this but there are two things that I know of that changed in the last few years:

1. They went to a one piece cockpit liner. Looks nice, easier to clean. Makes some things easier to install and other things harder! It adds flotation (foam behind) but takes up room.

2. The bulkhead in the v-birth is now glassed into place where as in the past it was a removeable piece of wood held in place by screws.

3. (Bonus): The seats are embroidered with the c-dory logo on the newer boats!

I don't know but, I have never heard of any changes in the hull or cabin molds. As far as lay-up, I enquired about this to Fluid and they were pretty secretive about it. One other change that comes to mind is the change to vinylester gel coat. Unfortunately, I don't know what year each change was made. I would guess all of them in the last 4-5 years. Maybe someone else can be more specific?

We had a 1989 16 Angler on the lot that we sold, and a new 2010, and the differenecs were minor. Wood grab rails have been dreplaced with stainless, and the window frames were bare aluminum versus powder coated. Otherwise, from a distance of 20 feet it was hard to tell any difference.
