What's the best cooler?

I recently bought the overpriced C-Dory factory cooler rack that doesn't fit my boat despite what the factory said....it's too short. After cleaning the goop off with solvent, I proceeded to devise a "make fit" solution. My question is...what's the best cooler for this rack...I've searched the topic but didn't come up with the answer. The inside dimensions are 3' long by 17 3/4" wide. Thanks!

When you say the rack was too short, do you mean to go across the engine well? What did you have to do to make it fit?

I have a 2008 Angler that had the cooler rack pilfered before I picked up the boat and just ordered another one from C-Dory today. I sure hope it fits. I have the holes already drilled in the engine well from the original rack. :?

I installed the factory cooler rack on our CD22 Cruiser last year and it fit perfectly. If it's the same as the one that fits on the CD19, you just have to adjust the position to get a good fit. Some pics might help.

As for the cooler, we bought the Coleman Xtreme 100-quart cooler from the Sports Authority on sale for around $75. It's not a tight fit in the cooler rack, there is a little room on each side but not much. It doesn't slide back and forth or side to side. Works for us!

GEESH, I bought a Coleman Extreme at Walmart last year. We took it camping in weather over 100 degrees and pretty much left it in the sun. We put a single 5 lb block of ice in it and froze most of our drinking water bottles before leaving. 4 days later there was still ice, It has wheels and a pull handle and here's the GEESH part, get this, I just measured it at 35 7/8 x 17! And it wasn't very expensive as I remember.

Roger, The rear tube rail of the rack that connects to the sides of the motorwell is at least an inch or more too short to slip far enough into the end fittings for the set screw to make contact. My solution is to shim the brackets that fasten to the sides of the motorwell to decrease the span and thereby accomodate the length of the tube.

That rack is built around the West Marine SKU # 3779519
Its the Ultracold 100 . May be the same as the coleman , but I think its an igloo at heart . Its an oddball size and the regular igloos dont fit .
