My understanding is that there is one layer of vinylester resin after the gel coat. It was not entirely clear if this was with the layer of fabric or just vinlyester resin. I believe that the vast majority of the layup is polyester resin. There are very few boats which are fully built with vinlyester resin. It is considerably more expensive, has slightly better bonding and slightly better water permeability resistance.
The only documentation I have seen is in the Skagit Orca layup--that is that under the Cook gel coat, there is 1.5 oz of "Vinylester resin". If the boat was entirely laid up with vinylester, I believe that this would be highly touted.
