Westport is picking up

There are some nice fish being caught out of Westport already this year. We found two in the upper teens, along with some coho. I think it's going to be a pretty good year out there.

Patrick, Rob, good to see you both out there.

Way to go Rick!
Great fishing is now and bound to get better. I look forward to being back in August after some fishing out at Neah Bay and Sekiu with a nice long cruise in the San Juans. Oh yeah, crabbing in Puget Sound and some shrimping in Area 7 west.

We were straight out in 300' of water. One was caught at 150' on the wire using bait in a teaser hood, the other was at 45' using a Cookies 'n' Cream spoon. That spoon got a lot of hits from chinook and coho alike. We had to turn back some pretty nice wild coho. They were close to 10 pounds, so given it's only June, they're gonna be some hogs by the time they hit the river this fall.

I also heard of a surprising number of kings in the 20# class caught for being this early in the season. August should have some pretty big fish showing up.

Ca-ya will be making it's first trip of the year to West port on Thursday.
Several friends have been out this week and limited by 1pm.
One group headed 270 degrees out to 165' and another group went 17 miles south off of Wilapa bay. They all got fish.
