Weekend at Matia!

OK, keeping the tradition alive, Daydream has been in the water every month since purchased new on Valentine's Day 2003. It was close for January, though.

January destination: a great little unnamed cove on the southeast side of Matia. We took off from Squalicum Harbor in Bellingham, David and his friend Mike joined us on Anna Leigh. No dock or mooring buoys at this cove, our purpose was to exercise our new Horizon 600 windlass.

Weather forecast was iffy, but weather Saturday was great - after getting the hook set, we rafted up and had lunch. After lunch (quesadillas made on a griddle that just fits the Wallas, thanks for this great idea, Bill and El!), I ferried everyone to shore in the dinghy. We had a great hike on the loop trail, there were a couple of larger boats over on the other side.

Back to the boats, sundowners in the cockpit, shrimp etouffee and ribs (!) for dinner, some good red wine - it doesn't get much better than this!

Sunday morning the forecast was calling for deteriorating conditions, so we scooted home fairly early, easy run back, Bellingham Bay was as flat as we have ever seen it - rain squall hit just as we were leaving the parking lot.

All in all, just another fabulous C-Dory weekend!

Lookit all them Hondas in a row....If it weren't for the antenna differences it'd look like one CD sitting next to a mirror in that last picture. Great shots! I wanna see all 3 of those new CD 25's in a row next!!

The dock and landing are on the west side at the other cove. We were on the northeast side. They do however take the docks over to Sucia Island for the winter.

I thought somebody would say that last picture was a sighting of the mysterious CD22 cat with quad Honda 40s...

Tom - this is an undeveloped cove, actually on the southeast side of Matia. The developed site with the restroom, picnic tables, mooring bouys and dock is on the west side, as David said, and the float is out for the season. This cove actually seems more protected than the developed site.
