No Marty it wasn't, but wouldn't doubt it was referenced by the author of the one I did read.
The book I read was a fictionalized account of 12 men from a small town in Montana in various branches of the military in World War 11, one of which was ferrying planes on part of the same routes as the these women pilots and the story line I think well covered what these women pilots accomplised and how they were treated compaired to the men. Personally I can only judge this from how accurately the other parts of the book covered the military services in comparison to accounts I've read of the real history of this period. Think I'll put " The Originals" on my future reading list to find out for sure.
