Wandering the Inside Passage to Alaska

 Pat,

From what I've read and heard, you packed a lot of fun and adventure into your trip. I hope we'll have an 'eye-ball' chance to discuss our experiences some day soon.

I know what you mean about making a fast trip. On the way out I took thousands of pictures over several months. On the way home, we went from the other side of Myers Chuck to Anacortes in 10 days - 8 traveling - and took fewer than 10 pictures.

 El and Bill,

Thanks for the kind words. When they come from someone with a highly effective site of his own, they mean even more. I can't help but reflect on the difference in our styles. Yours is all the more effective for having fewer words and pictures. Perhaps, one day I'll have the discipline to use fewer of both. Until then, my excuse is the same as (Abe's?): if I had more time, I'd write a shorter letter.

HI ALL,
THIS PAST JUNE 16TH, LINDA AND I CASTED OFF FOR AN ALASKAN CRUISE ABOARD THE ROYAL CARIBBEAN'S, VISION OF THE SEA. WHAT A FANTASIC TIME, AND THE ALASKAN SCENERY WAS SOMETHING TO BEHOLD. SURE DO ENVY YOU NORTHWEST BOATERS. WE'D LOVE TO DO A NASHVILLE TRIP, OUR SON IS A PHYSICIAN AT VANDERBILT HOSPITAL, BE GREAT TO SEE HIM AND BOAT AT THE SAME TIME. I'LL WATCH THE POSTS FOR DATES, TO BE MENTIONED. SO, WE ARE TAKING YOUR ADVICE AND STOWING AWAY THE HOSES AND WAX BOTTLES, CASTING OFF FOR LOUISVILLE KY. ON OCT. 12, FOR A SIX DAY CRUISE ON THE OHIO RIVER. ABOARD "MISTY SEAS", ROUND TRIP IS ONLY 300 MILES, BUT COULD BE A PRELUDE TO BIGGER AND BETTER TRIPS.
MADE A SLIT MODIFICATION TO OUR CD-22, IN CABIN BILGE PUMP AREA. NEVER DID LIKE THAT OPENING UNDER THE CABINET, AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BULKHEAD, WHICH ALLOWS WATER FROM THE COCK PIT TO DRAIN INTO THE BILGE PUMP RESERVOIR, INSIDE THE CABINET. SOMETHING ABOUT MICE AND SPIDERS GETTING INTO THE SALON THRU THAT OPENING, SO, I GLASSED IT OVER AND FINISHED IT OFF WITH GELCOAT. ALSO INSTALLED A BILGE PUMP IN THE COCK PIT, BETWEEN THE GAS TANKS, PUT IN AN AUTOMATIC FLOAT SWITCH. FINAL PRODUCT LOOKS GOOD.
WISHING ALL A GREAT DAY!
OUT!

Added new material to www.2wander.com

12 Sections on Alaska portion of recent trip up the Inside Passage, this includes 290 photographs and a write-up on each section.

The only section undone is one on life aboard Wanderer. C-Brats already know what it is like.

George and Penny,

Great pictures and stories. I reviewed your Erie Canal pics and story before we went on our eastern Erie Canal trip this fall. I would love to take a month, September preferred, on the Canals. there is so much to see, and not enough time to see it.

Hope to meet up with you some day.

Fred

Thanks Fred,

I hope we get a chance to meet. Penny and I have not sailed up to Maine in the last few years. We have no plans to do so. However, we like sailing Maine waters. We might even haul Wanderer up that way.

George and Penny,

I just finished reading your adventures and I had to tell you how much I enjoyed them. I especially loved the pictures and the way you showed your routes with the maps. We hope to be able to do this one day!!
I really would like to go to Meyer's Chuck as I met Joan Meyers and her husband earlier this summer.

Julie

Julie,

I appreciate you telling me that you enjoyed the web site.

Meyers Chuck was one of the places we regret not staying longer. The view from the dock is even more spectacular at high tide.
