Wallas now works

Tested the Wallas the other day. Would not start. Called Scan Marine. Doug walked me through possible problems. Took the stove out flipped it over leaving power and fuel connected. Took off the bottom combustion chamber cover and watched the cycle. Pulled out glow plug and hooked the plug back to the power and ground and ran the start cycle. The glow plug did not glow. Ordered the impossible to find Beru glow plug from Scan. Took the combustion pot apart and cleaned it with a stiff brush and ran a 1/16 drill bit up the needle to make sure it was clean.

When the new plug was delivered I put the stove back together, dropped in place and she fired right up.

Wallas is a complicated little beast and Doug tells me that my stove has a little brushed motor which supplies the air to the combustion chamber and the forced exhaust. This little motor will eventually slow and that makes the combustion too rich and hence carbon buildup. So my plan is to keep an eye on the exhaust and "when it is black, send it back" Doug can then put in a new motor and reset the fuel air combination.

At any rate I can perform the basic stuff on the Wallas and I know what to look for.

It never ceases to amaze me how much time these guys will spend with you on the phone. I just got off the phone with Doug he's walking me through the install of a 30Dt furnace, I feel way more confident now.
