I'm with David and Pat on this.

We have babied our Wallas with all the tricks I can find, fresh Kleenheat, disposing of old fuel, running it a minimum of an hour a month, as ell as running it dry once a season. On our trip down the coast last summer, when it was still less then two years old, the Wallas got into one of it's finicky moods and stopped working again, this time for a couple weeks.

Being on the southern California coast at the time it was little more then an inconvenience, but these stoves can be very reliable, or very unreliable, for no apparent reason, and I would hate to have that happen when it was freezing or below out.

Did you read the gentleman' s comments from Alaska last week about driving in minus 40-70 degree weather where he said words to the effect that, if the car failed, "you're dead" ?

How many of us would bet our life on a Wallas?

Yeah, but he also said he holed up in a hotel until it warmed up. Similarly, a prudent recreational boater would not head out in those conditions in the first place.
