Yes, kerosene works great -- some products evem seem better, but a little difficult to find here. Clou or Jon can give you more on this.

I prefer Klean Heat - it's virtually odorless, both as a liquid and while burning, and it doesn't soot. It's pricey, but the Wallas is so efficient, it's not a big deal - you don't use that much of it. On the recent Sequim trip, I cooked two meals, and left the Wallas on for two nights. Used less than 1/2 gallon.

Home Depot and Fred Meyer have both been known to carry it, but it does appear to be a seasonal item, and the supply varies by location.

We have burned both diesel from the gas pump and kerosene - we like kerosene a little better, they both smell though. Just got a 5 gallon drum from Lowe's or some place like that...If you can find it, I would try the Klean Heat that Da Nag mentions. Deal is, the way I heard it, he and C-Lou Jon bought out the entire supply in Washington, Oregon and California last year. Also, can people who can't spell "Clean" really manufacture a good product?

BTW - I see you are from NJ - I am Rutgers-Camden Law, 1975, lived in Moorestown (Moorestown, by Pennsauken, NOT Morristown!) five years...Don't really miss Camden much, though we did like the shore! Where are you in NJ? Marty and his son Joe on Miss Mirth are New Jerseyans as well...

I totally agree with Bill, Klean Heat is good stuff. On sale, it's about four bucks and seven bucks at the off sale price. I haven't had a problem with this fuel at all.

And Pat, that wasn't me that went nuts buying up all the Klean Heat, that was C-Lou C-Lou. I think she still has a little bit of Minnesota cold weather left in her veins. Burrrr :moon

Moorestown is one of my favorite communities in New Jersey!
(Pennsauken, on the other hand, you would not recognize after the Republican convention in Philly. No more strip, just a nice view of the Cooper River on the south side of Admiral Wilson Blvd. if you can believe it!)

we are in downtown Toms River.
As of this weekend we are the last ones left in the water at the marina, so it looks like the Barnegat Bay is all mine!
I think I'll go for the fancy kerosene most folks are mentioning. If I burn 5 gallons this year, that would be a lot.

Spousal unit is from Mt. Laurel and one of my stepsons skippered a commercial fishing boat out of Barnegat Island for years. Other stepson is in Little Egg Harbor, so if you see a brand new Parker 25 with a Yamaha pusher out in the bay, say "Hi from Don." Dennis is still on the water and, like his whole family, an avid fisherman.

Good to hear from some South Jersey folks.

Never got much farther north than Atlantic City, although did some fishing in Barnegat Bay.

Cape May to Ocean City was our usual grounds. with the boat being kept on the mainland side in Somers Point.

Haven't missed it a whole lot since we left in '76, but still enjoy getting back to friends who commercially fish out of Marmora with a 42 footer (primarily crabbing and conching).

From South Jersey to Eastern Long Island (Greenpoint and Orient) is some really great water. Hoping to get back there some day, but the real estate prices have gone berzerk!

Anyway, it's great to hear about your activities.

Tom, the Home Depots in Easton and Annapolis had it...it's seasonal, so you're unlikely to find it over the summer. I'd call them before making the run - don't know when they stop stocking or run out. If you can't find it, I can let you have some.

In the two years I have owned Liberty Call all I have ever used in the stove is diesel right from the fuel dock. I'm pretty warm blooded so I am sure that I have put close to fifteen gallons through it already; is this doing the stove wrong? I always start it at the highest temp setting and bring it back up to full temp before shutting it off and I have yet to have a problem. It does get a little cranky if the battery runs down during the night and the stove gets shut off un-naturally (or so I've heard). What signs should I be looking for to tell if it is being damaged or fouled?

Hi All;
Another source of Klean Heat is the True Value Hardware stores, though as noted it is seasonal. I have found it here in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area in only the True Value Stores, but not Home Depot. I suspect this is a market demand item for their inventories. The cost here appears to abt $21.00/ 2 1/2gal. container when you can find it.

I have been running K1 fuel this winter and have only gone through 2 gals and have not had any problems.... Love that heat, especially when it is 29F out and I am working in my shirt sleeves in the cabin. Sure glad I went with this option for SEA ANGEL last summer.
