Vue Scan

I have it for my Nikon scanner. There are a lot of settings/controls that can be configured.

If you know what you are doing (or want to do) it is pretty powerful. If you just want click and scan it may be more than you want to deal with.

I haven't used it for awhile because I got most of my scanning done.

One thing about VueScan is that it updates pretty often. It almost makes you want to go back and rescan stuff to take advantage of the new features/improvements. When I was using it, there was a new version almost every time I opened the program. All the updates got a bit tiresome.

If you have a bunch of stuff to scan there are companies that will do large batch scans for you, some you pay for scans by the box full.

Are you scanning slides/negatives or prints?

I got Vue Scan back when I used a Nikon slide scanner. It had been recommended on some professional photo forums I lurked on (not pro myself, just enthusiast). I no longer have that scanner, but have continued to use the software with various flat scanners since then. It's good stuff.

I have both a Minolta slide and negative scanner, and a Epson high resolution flat bed. Both of these seem to have good quality software, which does 90% of what I want, including photo scans.

I do have Vue Scan, I have used on some "orphan" scanners I have used in the past. It is a good product, but I rarely use it--and it is only on one of my computers.
