VPN

I used to use it for work, Cisco, I believe. Slower than being on the actual device, and cumbersome for me, but I'm not a nerd type. There is a level of security available, and we had to have that in dealing with patient information.

It's been about 4 years since I used it. Probably worlds better now but......

Anyone using a VPN service? Which one? I use it at work but not for personal use
Brett, I assume your thoughts are driven by theradical changes in the internet privacy lawsthat the current congress and administration just approved. I further assume that your belief is that a VPN service provider will be better than your current internet provider.
The latter may or may not be the case as the VPN provider could also log and sell data on what sites you visit. If you're concerned, about the privacy issues it may be that the only fairly safe thing to do is to use the Tor browser.

Since 80% of democratic voters and 75% of republican voters were against this change in regulations, I'm guessing that most C-brats feel similarly and are not wild about their IP service provider being able to sell data on their browsing habits without their consent or knowledge. But that's the case now. So for all, I'd recommend you look into the Tor browser. I'd also recommend you contact your elected representatives to let them know how unhappy you are about this.

Some of the items are correct. I was simply curious if anyone using VPN for personal use and any comments on providers and their experience. I am not worried about ISP selling my info probably already doing it marking it as limited metadata or subset. Telecoms, web sites, online shopping sites, financial transactions, governmental agencies, etc already doing this but years ago I beginning thinking about data overload and functionality lost. oops off on a tangent. I have already caught is a slew of data breaches - Target, Home Depot, Anthem, eBay, Chase, Citibank, etc
The bad guys already have most of my life and I have free identify theft protection for next several years

At work, VPN pipe works fine but we have multiple security layers, laptops are encrypted, and compliance and security regulations that I don't have in my personal life.

Thanks for the replies
