V-Berth Bedding

Patty here. I am wanting to make a change in the bedding we use in the v-berth and I'd like some input. We have a down comforter as the "blanket," if you will. It is wonderful, summer and winter, and I won't change that. What I want to know is what people find for the bottom. I custom made a fitted sheet for the 22' and that worked great. It was too much work, however, and it doesn't fit the 25' and I don't want to make another one! I'm thinking I want something warm underneath me and possibly something similar to a feather bed that you add onto a regular mattress, but I need to be able to adapt it to the shape of the v-berth. And I don't want it to slip. Okay, there's your challenge. I eagerly await your suggestions!

Hi Patty,
I'm not sure if this is the answer, but here's what we like to do. We sleep in a double down (zip together) sleeping bag with a large wool blanket underneath the bag. We have the bottom of the cushions and the sides of the V berth lined with a sheet of 1/4 inch closed cell packing foam. This will eliminate the condensation problem and with the wallas running, it's "tostie pops" in that little cave.

We have a V-berth shape Trav-Sac. It has a thicker "winter" side and a thinner "summer" side. It has sheets with velcro to hold them in and zippers to seperate the halfs for easier washing. They are great.[/url]

Patty here. Thanks for your quick reply people. The Travasak system sounded exactly like what I might want. It is ordered and on its way as we speak. Got the v-berth shaped one. Will use the down comforter on top if needed. Hated to get it at WM---I have a "thing" about their prices, but they're the only ones who have the v-berth shape. Had 2 $10 certificates so that saved a little. And Dave S.---you have a dirty mind

Patty I use real sheep skin in my dodge truck, my double bed sliding camper , my car, and you gest it in my boat tried everything else but to me it is they only thing it is so nice !.......

We bought a king-sized "memory foam" mattress topper for the v-berth, and found that it has been well worth the $90 it cost at Sam's.

As an added bonus, we glued together the two corners cut off, and made a dog bed out of them.

Now we're one happy pack.

wow....glad Pat-Patty-n-Oscar did not have one of the memory foam deals with the corners glued back together in Blakely last year... my spot on something warm and soft may have been out back in the cockpit.... :sad :crook :dog
