Use Scotty pedestal swivel mount at on risk

I had a max power pot puller which is similar to the ace puller
I had it attached to the 1026 mount which ace recommends for use. Several boats In valdez have them attached to their ace puller or similar ones
Was pulling string of 2 pots Wednesday, it broke off in the Scotty mount an could not catch it in time. Called Scotty, they said sorry but that product is only recommended for their diwnriggers and their pot puller. So I’m out cost of Scotty product and pot puller
If you are using the swivel pedestal mount with a pot puller you are s—-t out of luck. I have looked at several googled sights that show photos of pot pullers on this mount
So I’m done with Scotty products and if if you use this product , use at your risk. So I screwed up by believing the folks at ace and on different forums who use them. I should have known better.

ace sells that puller with a scotty mount on it. we have hung up bottom with pots and dam near pulled the boat over but the mount has never budged. Sorry for your loss.

I have an Ace puller and the Scotty mount (plastic, non-swivel).

I too have hung up on the bottom with a good current running.....no fun! In my case, I did bust the Scotty mount when the pressure became too great (granted the line was at a somewhat strange angle). My near brand new puller went over the side; however, lucky for me, a friend had suggested that I tie the puller to a cheat with a lanyard in case I dropped it while afixxing it to the mount. I hadn't thought of having the mount break, but when it did, the lanyard saved my ass.

Now, the first thing I do is attach that lanyard; and it is the last thing I remove. BTW, I don't blame Scotty......the pressure was way out of line in terms of what anyone should expect it to hold. Frankly, I'm glad it broke.....better that than seeing my gunnel dip under the water .

I use an ace puller but anything that hangs out of the boat has a safety rope attached to it so that I don't loose the puller.
more or less, a common sense thing to do

Sorry I don’t have common sense Thanks for rubbing salt in the wound. I feel better now.

I went through all the cheap options. Here is how I cured my Pot Puller woes, Make a davit out of 2" sc 80 alu install a electra-dyne puller & be done with it. A little spendy, but a one time purchase. Sorry about your crappy luck (product failure)
Have a good one!!
