For those of you who monitor channel 16 in the Puget Sound...

From the Local Notice to Mariners :

On 30 Jul 10, USCG Group Port Angeles and USCG Sector Seattle were combined and renamed USCG Sector Puget Sound. The purpose of this merger is to bring the operational control of all Coast Guard resources located within the present Captain of the Port Puget Sound area of responsibility under one command for the execution of all Coast Guard missions.

USCG Sector Puget Sound offices will be located in the CDR Raymond J. Evans Shore Operations Building at Pier 36 in Seattle, WA. All VHF-FM and HF radio frequencies formerly guarded 24 hours a day by USCG Group Port Angeles and USCG Sector Seattle will now be monitored by USCG Sector Puget Sound. In addition, the following phone numbers will be monitored at the Operations Building in Seattle, WA:

Emergency or Distress (206) 217-6001
Communications Center (206) 217-6004
Non-emergent business (206) 217-6002/6003
Additional information, including USCG Sector Puget Sound areas of responsibility and subordinate unit listing is published as enclosure (4) to this Local Notice to Mariners (28/10).

The day it went active it was a special notice on the VHF all day long, your right was really no real media news about the change.

I just checked the Port Angeles phone number I had for CG SAR and it is still answered but is being forwarded to the Sector Puget Sound, so I just changed to that number to carry in my phone on the boat.
