I don't understand what the difference is. It does seem that the gelcoat has a harder time setting up when it is applied over epoxy and glass versus the vinylester and glass. The gelcoat that is just on the original part of the boat is hard as nails.

Oh, man! I did not pick up on this in your earlier posts ... polyester resin will not set up if applied over epoxy, unless you lay down a barrier coat first. No wonder this was not working. They have the product you need at the marine supply store (or, they should). West Marine has it for sure.

Wish I had picked up on this in the beginning -- could have saved you some work and hassle. Sorry about that.
