I routinely use Google software (Gmail, doc, sheets, Picasa, etc) which are online along with Office 365 with its various names: Outlook, Live, Sky Drive, Hotmail , etc.
I don't see a lot of down side. Google is free and I purchased a new HP ultra light portable PC from Microsoft Store for $179 which came with free Office 365 (one year, entry level stuff.... They are not giving all the keys to the kingdom for free. This does not happen with Google unless you purchase addtl storage space and or more up to business account)
They have apps for I-devices and other tools for off line using docs, sheets, presentations, (Google does not have database software to date, fyi I grew up using dBase and think of everything as a database) which is very useful to me bc internet access is not required.
I switched from Evernote to Google Keep for notes and like both bc I do a lot of voice notes and don't keep to pull out a pen and paper just talk into phone and work on later
If Google and MS is not to suitable, Amazon has software too along with companies. I wonder if Evernote will be bought out?
Evernote improved my life a lot
On the flip side, everything in the cloud is susceptible to data breaches and need to determine the benefits and risks individually
