That looks interesting, but I am considering mounting a 6" cleat inside the cockpit high on the inwale there near the upper fuel line access port. I would then use chafe guards to protect the gunwale.

I'd be interest to get some feedback on this idea.

I have only made prototypes and testing units so far. The hooks and counterweight are covered in a resilient material to avoid accidental damage to hulls, docks, etc, and the inner cores are now welded and assembled by me, so no marketing yet.

I did have a company in Columbia, South America want to produce them but they offered no buy out nor guarantee of royalties, so I passed on that.

So far, I've not done any significant marketing relating to trying to find a manufacturer or dealer. I sent 3 letters out a few years ago and only heard from the Columbian company when a guy in Florida who had used one told them about it.

Any ideas on what companies would be good to approach would be welcome.

I am running a dental practice and a farm so some of these side activities get ignored too long.

This has worked well for us with no trips to the foredeck needed for docking. The forward line is attached to the center cleat on the bow and run on the outside of the last two bow rail stantions.

The forward fenders can be attached from the cabin window.
The rear fenders hang on adjustable snap on hangers.

The forward line can be wrapped around this cleat if you want the mooring lines closer together when exiting the boat.

Hi Roger. Thank you for the pictures.

I have a few questions, if you don't mind.

On your cam cleats, did you through bolt those?

You mention that your aft fenders hang on adjustable snap-on hangers. Which hangers do you use?

And are the fenders you hang from the eye below the windows, are those fixed length?

I have been planning on adding pad eyes below those windows, but get just a bit stuck when I ponder dragging in wet fenders through the windows. Though I don't think I have any other option, so I may just have to get over it. :)

The Cam Cleats are not through bolted, just screws and 5200, bulletproof!

The fenders are fixed length. We have two sets, one is 2" shorter than the other. Pulling them in is quick and clean, don't worry about a few drops of water.

Here is the rear fender hanger, don't know the brand but readilly available.

Roger, thanks for the pictures and reply.

I happened to drive by a West Marine today, so I turned around and picked up a couple of cam-cleats. These are pretty neat gizmos.

And as I mentioned earlier in the thread, I am seriously thinking about mounting a couple of 6" cleats on the inwale there above the little steps in the cockpit (though I have small round access hatches above the steps on my TomCat so maybe above those).

Not sure about the location of your proposed cleats. I'd make them the pop-up variety if you do it. I still have the scar from a cleat that went 2" into my shin years ago.. :disgust

After using and docking and mooring the TC for 4 years, I don't feel the need for any more cleats. Just my $ .02 worth.
