For those that don't recognize those odd looking fish , they are Cobia . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cobia http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/Gallery/D ... Cobia.html
Highly sought after on the east and gulf coast .
The first seasonal run creates a frenzy among fishermen from North Carolina to Texas and locally [ the middle gulf] "cobia towers" appear on boats from 10' stepladders in 16' aluminum boats to huge sportfishers with guys or gals sightfishing from the tuna towers . And everything in between .Starting around March from Panama City to Mobile Bay the fish cruise the emerald shoreline looking for crabs and other bait fish and fishermen cruise looking for Cobia in the clear water. It is quite a parade of tower boats going up and down the beach . They can go over 100 Lbs sometimes and are usually sightfished with spinning gear making for a pretty sporty fishery .

Sorry about that Pat. I just could not resist the by-line. Talk about a Chinese fire drill. Three people, two coolers that would not hold the fish. We put the coolers on the center line an put the fish between the passenger seat ant the coolers but they kept thrashing around knocking everything about. Of course we had no club to put them out of their misery..
We took 6 lbs of fillets over to a local Geek restaurant last night and he grilled it for us. Now, I mean to tell you that was some good eating.
