transit from Stuart Fl. to West Coast

Does anyone know what the situation is this year on the transit from Stuart Florida over to the Ft. Myers area, across the lake?

What I've been reading about it says that the current level is at an historic low for this time of year.

As always, some local info about crossing would be the best.
