Transducer Cable Lenght

Was checking where i would route my Fishfinder transducer cable and to my surprise it was too short.I will have to see if they sell longer cables for my unit.. Seeing that this is my first 22 foot lenght boat this had never occurred to me. Is this common or is this a result of the type of Fishfinder i have. Lowrance X510C. Thanks Tug

My guess is the manufacture most likely sells an in-line extension cable.

Unless on the off chance there is a pigtail coming off your transducer, if that's the case you must be able to purchase a longer cable.

I will have to check with the manufacturer, does everyone who owns C-Dorys' run cable extensions for their transducers. Tug

We've mounted transducers on the starboard side and run to the dash with plenty of cable.

I wonder if Lowrance is shipping shorter cables to keep costs down?

Matt... all the transducers were mounted on the Port side of the boat...on the Starboard side there is this attachment for the Kodiak Bait tank pump which i will leave there for future use.. After i seal all the old transducers holes on the Port side i will mount the new transducer to a piece of KingBoard. I did a quick measure for the Starboard side the other day and thought the cable i had was too short..I will measure again today and let you know.Tug

Re-measured the distanced from the starboard helm side to the transom again...seems to be about 20 feet ..i might of had enough cable if i were to mount it there.....Tug

Hey Tug,

I replaced my Lowrance Transducer when I switched over to Standard Horizon and their Airmar P-58.
Naturally, the mounting holes didn't match up.
Here is the project.

I went back later and drilled out the new mounting holes and epoxied in some stainless inserts for greater strength and water-proof integrity. It may be overkill but I rest easier. :wink

The SS inserts will work well, as long as the holes match up. But the King Starboard will allow many different positions of the screws for transducers in the future. Unfortunately there is no "standard" for transducer mounting brackets.
