Trailering 101 by George Hone

Congrats George on getting your article published in Pacific Yachting. Always good to see safety and common sense promoted. The pics of Kerri On are a real bonus for C-Dory exposure. Hope you will autograph my magazine when you come to the Comox gathering. ;o)

Thank you Martin. It was fun working thru the process with the magazine. I do hope it helps promote the boat. It helps people to know they don't neccedarily need a 40 footer to enjoy being on the water safe and secure.

Good article, excellent advise. I have made a lot of launch ramp mistakes over 20 years of trailering. The sorry list is, not putting the plug in, not undoing the stern straps, and the big one, undoing the bow strap and dropping the boat on the ramp.
I was a lot better at checking and double checking when I was at the helm of our bigger boats. With the trailer boats I was always in a hurry or talking to someone on the ramp and not paying attention.

Hi George,

I bought the June edition Pacific Yachting magazine today. Love your article on Trailering 101. Looks great on the glossy pages, well done. You mentioned earlier that you wanted to get back to writing. Have you had other articles published? If so, please point me in the right direction.

Martin.

Congratulations, George, on a job well done!

I hope that you will get more articles published in the future. Articles such as this are helpful to others interested in learning more about what is involved in boating, and you are clear and articulate :D

Thanks Martin. I had several Pacific Yacting articles way back in '96 about our transit of the Northwest Passage in a sailboat Dove 3 in '95. My publisher and I are just doing some editing on a 3rd printing of my book about the trip. We hope to reprint by August. I think PY back copies are available. The 3 articles ran summer of '96. My book first published in '02. The Northwest Passage on $10 a day. Really. Still copies at Amazon I believe. I plan on submitting for review to PY and other publications, about future cruising and how to George

Hi George,
Glad to hear a new edition of your book is coming out - looking forward to reading it - please let us know when it is available. I have read Arctic Odyssey by Len Sherman so am keen to read about the trip from a different perspective.

Thanks Bill will keep posted. Lennie's book is from a different angle. Good read also. Just emailed him he's living on a farm in new Brunswick. Swallowed the anchor as they say.

Hi George,

Congrats on a fine article and best wishes on a raging comeback. Really nice pixs too. Keep 'em coming. :thup :thup
