29 Venture

C-Belle
Last spring I traded my 22ft Cruiser "the Jelly Bean" in for a 29ft Venture which I call "C-Belle" . How do I show this on C-Brats website? Also are there any other 29 Venture owners out there? I have a number of topics that I would like to discuss about the Venture but there does not seem to be many around. C-Dory doen't even list them on their Web-site
Thanks

Congratulations! I think you're the first one on here with one of the Venture 29s.

I fixed you up a photo album (I'll send you a PM with the generic intro to it), and linked it to your profile info. If you edit your profile you can change what model C-Dory you have by choosing the Venture 29 from the dropdown list.

Go right on ahead and start any topics you want to discuss and I'm sure you'll find plenty of interest. We might not have any model-specific answers, but we'll probably have some questions.

Thanks for sticking with us!

Bill-

Either Mike or Bill, who cooperatively own and manage this site, will see this post and can make the necessary changes in your profile, but I think you can do it yourself by simply clicking on the word "Profile" at the upper right of the page between "No New Messages" and "Log Out". This will take you to your profile where you can make the changes, and they then will then appear beside your posts, and also anytime someone clicks on the work "Profile" at the bottom of one of your the posts.

I don't really know how many of the C-Dory Venture 29's were produced, but there were very few, and you have the only one I'm aware of at this time. I believe the former C-Dory owners, Fluid Marine, had decided to discontinue production of the boat after buying the company or assets from the previous owners before them. I don't believe Sea Sport, the latest owner, is planning on building the Venture 29, either. These decisions have been (as I understand it) because of not too much public interest expressed in the V-29, the poor economy, and because of stiff competition in that size bracket from other manufacturers.

I hope this is not to disheartening to you, as you have a fine new C-Dory, the biggest one of all, and I'm sure you will enjoy it very much. All of us in the C-Brat community will be happy to help you in any way we can with your new boat as you begin to enjoy it and make all the necessary adjustments and adaptations! Keep us informed on all your adventures and progress!

Thanks for your prompt reply to my questions. I did discover 3 other 29's listed on the "our C-Dorys" list. I wasn't aware of the ownership changes at C-Dory . I hope the quality will be maintained. I am not worried about the boat model being discontinued because it is a very good boat and is powered by Yanmar diesel so as long as they (Yanmar) stays afloat I should be OK. In anycase I plan to keep this boat as long as I can still go boating. I will follow your suggestions and change my profile
Thanks

I beleive that somwhere between 8 and 12 29' Ventures were built. I'm going from memory of a discussion from over a year ago, so I may be mistaken.

Personally, I like the 29 Venture. Based on the one we looked at during a plant tour, there were some things I would change- but all of them were minor (microwave placement, helm layout- things like that).

Enjoy your new boat!

While most do not have the Venture 29 there are many commonalities among all C-Dory's so fire away with your questions.

Hi Bill,

Greetings and welcome to the C-Brat site. Good folks here, and tons of info, gazillians of opinions, and fun subjects.

I grew up in Sidney and love it there. Moved around a bit but now I'm in the Washington state equivalent, (Sequim).

At the factory tour we had a chance to see the 29-V up close. Liked the size for livability, but bigger than I was ready for at the time. Agree with Matt, some things I would have changed, (head placement, and the port side forward in the cabin) come to mind. I saw a 29 listed for sale in the "Norwesting" at Canoe Cove or somewhere close. We even talked about going up to see it. Glad to see it found a home close by. Hope we get to see you on the water. Plan on the Friday Harbor CBGT (C-Brat Get Together) in May. You will get to see lots of C-Dorys, many modifications, and meet some really great folks and 2 weird ones  :?:

Enjoy and keep us posted with some photos, (I saw the album was ready and wanting).

Near Neighbour,
Harvey
