Towing with a Sequoia?

Hi folks,
Does anybody have anything good or bad to say about towing a 22 with a Sequoia? I've towed my Classic with my 98 Jeep Cherokee for years now, and it's OK, but I'd really like a bit more power. The Jeep's in fine shape, I've fixed just about everthing that usually goes wrong with them over the years, and I've got tons of Thule rack stuff for it to haul bikes and canoes and such. It's a garage queen and only sees a few thousand miles a year so I could keep it for just about forever. Anyway, I've always liked the Toyota Sequoias and it seems from a quick look on CARMAX that they are pretty much giving low-mileage used ones away. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Mike

According to the toyota website the 08 models have a 9100lb tow rating. Should be plenty for the 22'. Not sure if there's different trim levels or model years with a lower rating or not but that is plenty.

I have a 2005 Sequoia that is my primary tow vehicle for the Numb. The '08s, as previously noted, are higher rated than mine (I think mine is rated at something like 7,000 lbs.) You barely know she's back there...way more than enough. That's the way I like it, too.

What's the tow rating on your Jeep? V8/V6? Towing package? If you have the tow package with tranny cooler
and large radiator, you should be good. Unless you really want a new SUV, the Jeep might work fine.
I tow my 6000 lb. Trophy with my '05 JGC just fine. 5.7 V8
My .02.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies. I ordered my Jeep Cherokee with the towing package (5000 pounds) when I bought it in 97. I've towed my boat about 3500 miles over the years and it works fine. But, those Sequoias sure look nice and I think the older 4WD models are rated for 6200 pounds, which seems like it would be a significant upgrade. I'm just looking right now but low mileage 4WD rigs are listed in the low to mid 20's which seems to be a deal to me. My daily driver is a 2004 Toyota Echo, so with the 35 MPG I get with that I could splurge a bit on my bigger rig. And those Sequoias sure ride much nicer than my old solid-axle Cherokee. Thanks again!

Mike
