Tongue weight for 16 ft. Cruiser

What should be the tongue weight for a 16 ft. Cruiser? The boat I am buying seems to have a weight of over 300 lbs. I have been told it should be 10% of the boat and trailer. That would put it about 150 to 175 lbs.

Is that right?

150 should be about right, depending on load.
 
If it sways back and forth at higher highway speeds the tongue weight is too light.
The previous info is correct. 10% on hitch of total weight. Just move the trailer axle to obtain the required balance.
