Tightening torque

Does anyone know what the tightening torque should be for the thru bolts on the main motor.I just installed a transom support plate for the upper bolts for the main motor and am unfamiliar with with how much torque can be applied to a fibreglass transom. The bolts did not seem to be torqued too tight and were easily loosened with just a wrench.I usually tightened the thru bolts as tight as i can by hand on Aluminum boats but i do not want to crack the gelcoat or worse by tightening the bolts too tight. Thanks Tug

There is no specified torque on transom bolts. You want them snug, as tight as you can easily get with a simple wrench, and use antisieze compound on the nuts. If you use a plate to distribute the load on the inside of the transom, you can take the torque up to 60 lbs, but usually 20 lbs is plenty.

That is kinda what i figured , tighten with a wrench nice and snuge but was not sure about fibreglass. I will re-check with a torque wrench to see how far i am off from 60 lbs/torque. Thanks good information. Tug
